    Re: socketed sbec

I bought a SBEC from another turbo car and sent it to ShellGame to be socketed. I can't remember what he charged; but it was a reasonable price for quality work.

Out of curiosity did you switch your csx over to SBEC electronics or are you actually looking for a SMEC?

No, it came with a sbec. Trying to make the transition to another computer smooth as possible so I don't want to switch to a smec.

The 89 CSX was the first car with the SBEC.

Yeah, and it's making everything more of a pain in the rear for me. Should I be able to use a non-vnt sbecI from a 90s 2.2 dodge? I don't have the vnt in the car anymore so I don't need an ecu for that.

You should still be able to run a VNT SBEC and use a manual boost controller if time is an issue. Did you talk to shellgame yet?

Not yet. Going to hold off for a bit til I figure out my fuel issues. I've got a manual boost controller on there now which has worked pretty well recently.

The socketed SBEC I have is from a 2.5 turbo van (TI). The electronics are the same, just the cal is different. You just need to make sure the SBEC is from a turbo car.

Right. That'll make everything a bit easier. I appreciate it.

Does it matter if it is a TBI, TI or TIV sbec?

    Re: socketed sbec

I've been told as long as it's turbo that it shouldn't really matter. I'd like to stick with T4 since it was stock, but I'll take anything that will work.
