89 CSX Shadow Wheel Stud replacement HELP

I have a front broken wheel stud. How do you replace it? Do you have to pull the bearing out? Would it be better to replace the bearing and spindle? any help would be great.
    Thanks

could remove the bearing and press it out or use a 5 lb sledge hammer and pound it out and run a new one in its place using an open lug to press it in

Do you have to pull the drive shaft out and push the bearing from behind? Would it be better then to replace the bearing and new hub assembly.
    Thanks

You should not have to do that to take it out, I think you just have to line it up right, and push it from the front (outside). There should be a space in the back where it can have room to come out.

We replaced some on my buddies 89 csx, and the dust shield was most definitely in the way, so we had to take the whole SOB apart, and then we ended up just putting a new bearing in....

Usually there is a small indentation in the shield that allows a lug to be pulled out the back. Just have to rotate the hub to the right spot. Check for that first.

The shield is round and no holes in it. How do you pull the bearing out? Do you have to remove the axle shaft and pound it out from the back. Or can you pull if from the front with out taking the axle out?
    Thanks

I went a head and cut part of the sheild away and got the new one in. What a great design.
Thanks to everyone for your input.
