    Rod Bolts

How hard should they be to come out??? The TIII block I pulled out, all of them came out while pulling the pistons... Usually give them a couple light taps with a hammer to get the rod caps off... these bolts simply fell out. Especially #3 which had a disintegrated bearing.

I've never been able to get one to budge before...

Looks like the cast crank and K-1 rods have found a new home. Saves 7lbs on the crank and 100 grams per rod rotating mass.

    Re: Rod Bolts

I have had them start to come out while separating the rod caps before. I haven't had both of them start to come out though. I was hitting them with a 3lb. dead blow hammer...

    Re: Rod Bolts

It gets better.... The block had mains 2 and 4 swapped. Even though they were clearly labled. Let's see.. 2 bolts GONE from the block to trans when I pulled it apart. Several more loose. Engine just waiting to have something happen...

My issue now, the K1 rods are bushed for 901 pins for the pistons. Stock is 900. Looks like I need new bushings in the rods..

Wow, that is a doozie for sure Ken. I hope you can get her back together with minimal frustration. Who knows what else is lurking under there with missing/loose bolts etc...

I like how he numbers WHICH IROC he is talking about....I reek with envy.

KEN, Got the pipes for the IC on the Shelby. Now I can attend car shows and actually pop my hood without feeling pathetic.

You can hone the pin bosses in the pistons .001" bigger if bushings are a problem. Assuming you have .901" pins...... The rod bolts should have a good press into the rods BTW.....

He probably meant .910 (oversized to ford spec).

    Re: Rod Bolts

    No, .901 pins... Wiseco's are a .901 pin. The K1's were bought for a set of 8V wiseco's.

Steve, yes I have a second Iroc now. Bought from Brian slow in February.

So the rod bolts were extreemly loose.... That might have contributed to the demise of #3 bearing.

Might just buy new stock rod bushings and have them put in the K1's. Thanks jerry
