    2.4L Swap Tranny question....

As many of you know, I have scrapped my 3.0L turbo project. I am now moving to a 2.4L project in a Dodge Shadow. I want use some of my left over items. One of them is my Cliff built tranny that has my LSD in it. It is a 543 case with 568 internals and the 523 3.5 FD setup. Now I understand that I can put this tranny on a 2.4L with some minor work. So that leaves me two questions....

What are the clutch flywheel options?
    &
Can I just go with a 523 case to put my internals into, or do I need a 568 case.

    Thanks!

Both the srt-4 modular clutch and a TD clutch have been used in a 2.4/568 swap by carlos on TD. The srt clutch will start to crap out around 300/300, so I would just skip right over that and use a td clutch and flywheel.

The case can be either a 523 or a 568, only difference with them is the crank sensor hole on an r/t trans.

Awesome. I have a 523 tranny that i can swap internals with, so i can make use of the 543 for someone's v6. Now I just have to get them up to Cliff sometime during the summer.

I didn't think this swap was possible, mainly because of the starter placement.

    Re: 2.4L Swap Tranny question....

Wow. I didn't know this was possible. Does this mean the reverse is possible? Meaning using a 2.2 block and 2.0/2.4 trans? In case I ever wanted to put a 5 speed in my Horizon, i would really like to use a Neon 5 speed.

    Re: 2.4L Swap Tranny question....

I dont think it will. A neon's start location puts in the front. I dont think there is room there.... but maybe done. I can't remember how close the oil filter is.

I think the water neck would be the problem...

Why would you want a Neon tranny over a 523/568 anyway?
