    Pace Car clone?

Anyone think it's "wrong" to make a clone '87 Lebaron convertible Indy Pace Car? Been thinking about it for my '89. (Yes, I do have the correct decals.) Seems with the musclecar crowd clones are all the rage and OK as long as one doesn't try to pass it off as an original. Would be kinda hard with mine being several years off. It isn't like my original TI is a real collectors car that I would be ruining. Thoughts? Comments?

As long as you don't pass it off as the real deal, I don't see why not.

    +1 to Kevin's comment above.

Clones are cool, did MP or someone else sell those decals?

OEM Mopar. Very, very hard to find as no one is reproducing them. I'm thinking about sending a door decal to Positive Impressions to see if he will make a few up.

Be hard to do in my case. Door decal would say "1987" but registration and VIN would say 1989.

Its all good if you aren't/don't try to pawn it off as original. If its something you'd really like to do, by all means, do it!

Oh, and I for one am all for preserving the decals by having them at least scanned for the poss future reproduction.

I thought it would be cool to make a clone and then put "NotReal" on the license plate.

I would find this absolutely OK! I mean you have 100's of General Lee's cruising around and they get their attention, why not dedicating a project at the 1987 Pace Car? I find this a good idea, and personally I feel, the LeBaron deserves that it is memorized as a pace car.

I'll go with that verbage! Since I have the "OK" from the group here, then it's a go! Now the next battle.....getting the decals reproduced. Talked to one local graphics company and they are hestitant due to copyright issues.
Car won't be red like the one that actually paced the race. It will be silver, which from what I understand, was available in pace car trim. Now if I could just come up with the rear spoiler/light bar, that would take the cake.
Strobes are easy, the unique light bar, not.

Found a silver pace car picture. Anyone know anything about these, like how many were produced, etc.?
