    Forged Pistons vs Cast Pistons

I have a set of brand new 2.2 Flat Top Pistons.. with Moly Rings which I was going to use in my high compression n/a circle track motor.

But I read where all the Turbo guys are using the forged Pistons.

So I called Wiseco and I can get a set of Forged Flat Top Pistons with Chrome faced, gas nitrated rings, pins, clips including oil scrapper and mini flex vents for $540 for the set.

So my question is.. in an N/A application at around 200 hp (maybe 225 ?) do I really need Forged Pistons..

IMO I would say no not unless you are planning on some major compression and timing to the point where sever knock may occur. That is only my opinion of course.
No fun cars any more :(

    +1

I don't think you would need them especially in a 2.2.

It is a 2.5 block with 2.2 pistons in it..

and compression will be around 13:1, a lot of advance, but racing fuel to make up for it.

Stock 2.2 pistons are pretty tough. 2.5 pistons are weak because the lower ring land is too close to the pin.
