I need an emergency brake assembly for a 1989 mini

Are there any sources for a new emergency brake assembly (the pedal and bracket assembly under the dash) for a 1989 Caravan turbo 5 speed? I am unable to locate one locally and don't want to go with used if possible. Apparently it's a common problem for them to wear out. My whole bracket rotates when the pedal is pushed down to set the brake.

Re: I need an emergency brake assembly for a 1989 mini

I am located in Vernonia. I haven't had any time to go to the U-Pull-Its and I don't think I will have the time to do it soon. I am wanting to buy one from someone and have my mechanic install it. I don't have any place to work on my cars right now, so my options are somewhat limited. I would also like to find someone local to install exhaust and an intercooler on the van. I didn't know there was anybody in Hillsboro on the forum. I would like to see your cars sometime.

    Thanks,
    Tom

Tom, just send me a PM anytime you want to meet up. I could help you out with a fmic on the van and putting and a exhaust. I go to the yards quite frequently so I'll look for a pedal and bracket. Do you have any idea if it is 5-Speed Specific? I don't really think why it would be but you never know.

For rallycross which is basically a autocross in a grass field it is only about 15 minutes west, right in Hillsboro. For the stage rally (racing all out on gravel roads against the clock) only about 45 minutes. One of the service areas in in Vernonia.

Thanks, Doug. Let me know if you find an assembly at the yards. I don't know if it is 5 speed specific or not. I wouldn't think so, but you never know.

I'll call a few more dealers then. The first one I called told me they were no longer being stocked. Wouldn't be the first time they were mistaken.

    Thanks,
    Tom
