    Re: Drag Radials

Dont know if those tires would fit, but if youre running a 17, thats going to diminish traction due to the lower, stiffer sidewall. If youre set on DR's, I would stick with 15's. But, even the best DR isnt going to be close to a slick. I know slasky was running BFG DR's on the street and he could light them up into third gear.

    Re: Drag Radials

Sounds like hes looking for street use. 225/45s will fit on a Daytona, a 7.5" or 8" rim would probably be best but they would go on a 7".

Have you thought about a 2 stage boost controller to limit the boost in 1 and 2nd? Maybe it can be tuned right into the SDS?

I haz teh Eboost2 FTW!, lol

My suggestion is get the biggest meats you can get to fit, I have 245/45/17 DR's on my Spirit, had to mod it to get them to fit. Better is 15-16" rim with a 245-255 and more sidewall. For DR's if your not driving on the street in the rain then MT's or M&H dot tires are good.

These are very expensive but about the best you can get-

You need atleast an 8'' wide wheel to run these 245's though. They also come in 235/40's so that might work as well as.
These are pretty good too (still expensive), and 235/40's might be a good fitting size-

For cheaper tires that grip and are light, Sumitomo HTR Z III is very hard to beat.

I have the g force drag radial and they are awsome when you let the air out of them and get them some were around 15 psi.

i don't think they will fit without issues, they are 25'' tall! Your best bet is a 235/40 tire or a 225/40.
Plus the bfg drag radials only come with 5/32'' tread and the soft rubber wears fast.

car only gets driven on the weekends...or to the track...tread wear not too much of an issue...hoping for some nice mid 11's on a 5 speed

    On a drag radial?
I would think you'll need slicks.

    Re: Drag Radials

Exactly. If your car is powerful enough to do 11's, drag radials will be roasting and you'll never hit your 11's. Get some tires for the street, and slicks for the track.
But again, 225/45's will be too tall!

    Re: Drag Radials

Thats why I say to run 235/40's. If they made 245/35's I'd say go with that, but they don't.
Problem is he's gonna need 8'' wide wheels to run anything more than 225's with the low profile of a 17'' wheel. But 225/45/17's will probably rub the strut tower from the height. He needs wider for traction, not taller. Much more options with a 15'' wheel.
Honestly I'd go back to stock crabs with a 225/50/15 BFG drag radial. We know they fit and since there's more sidewall you'll have better traction.

I would agree, especially using a 5spd. Although i'm pretty sure i can pull off a low 12 1/4 mile with my setup(but its yet to be seen, some day)
