    piston play at TDC

What's acceptable for piston play at TDC or top of the cylinder? This in on a 2500 mile motor. Thanks.

How are you measureing the play, side clearance with a feeler gauge? Not gonna be accurate with the rings in... Then there is forged vs cast, more clearance required for forged slugs. Do you remember what you had when you installed the pistons/motor was new? Is there a big difference or are you just concerned cause you can rock them a bit in the bores? Have you heard audible piston slap at start up? When warm? Questions questions...

I'm just worrying about nothing I believe. They rock back and forth a bit while installed in the cylinders. This is a 2.5 motor, so the pistons are shorter. It's only every 4-5 years that I have one of these motors apart and I tend to forget how things were when installed. Motor made no noise when cold. These are JE forged pistons.

You can't tell the play by doing this, the only way is to take it apart and measure with feeler guages,

There floating pins so the would have some play depending on the piston to cyl clearance
