This will be the thread where we release info about SDAC-18 and keep it updated. If you have questions about the event that are not answered here, use one of the existing threads as this one will be closed to replies.

The dates are Saturday June 21 through Tuesday June 24 and maybe Wednesday June 25.

Detroit metro area is as close as we have for location at this time.

We do not have a host hotel as yet, and have not got firm track commitments yet either. We are planning on a car show, road course, and drag racing. We may have a road rally of some type but not sure yet.

If ever there was a year to come to our convention to enjoy
the motel, THIS IS THE YEAR!!

We are pleased to announce that we will be staying at a
Marriot Hotel. Craig & I visited it on Friday and we were
very impressed. They have just completed a $5 million
renovation and it really shows. This is by far the nicest
place we've ever stayed at for an SDAC event. All rooms
include breakfast at the restaurant inside the hotel (either
buffet style, or off the menu). When you make your
reservation you will be asked what style pillow you prefer,
foam or feather?

We have a block of rooms set aside for our use and while
their prices normally start at $159 per night for a single,
all rooms for us are priced at $89 per night (starting with
Friday night June 20th). To some this may be a little
pricey, but it is absolutely the best price we could get and
still be in an area convenient for us.

This Marriot is in Pontiac Michigan but near Auburn Hills
where the Chrysler HQ and Walter P Chrysler Museum are at.
It is about a 5 minute drive to the museum which is where
our car show will be held.

There is plenty of parking for both cars and tow vehicles,
and an area in the back of the motel that is fairly
"private" and may turn out to be the most popular area in
the parking lot for our folks to hang out at. There are two
pools, an indoor and an outdoor, and both are open 24 hours
a day.

that is direct to the motel, 800-579-8395, or you can book
your room online at http://www.marriot.com/dtwpo

If you book your room online, there is a spot to put in the
Group Number and if you call to make your reservation you
will need to mention the Group Number. In our case it is
not actually a number but a bunch of letters. Our Group
Number is SDASDAA. You need to use this code to get the $89
per night rate.

We have added a tour of the Detroit Conner Ave Viper Plant for Wednesday June 25th. We do have a limit of 50 people that can go on the tour. There will be sign up sheets at SDAC-18. Those folks that pre-register for SDAC-18 will be given preference for the tour.

Just a reminder ...

If you are planning on coming to this event and have not yet made room reservations, you have one week from today to make your reservations at the discount price we negotiated for you. After May 28th the unreserved rooms in the SDAC block will be released to the public.
