    Wheel Bearings; Where to Buy?

I need to get a pair of wheel bearings for my GTC. I am getting a PS pump and rack from NAPA. Would I be fine with their wheel bearings as well or should I get them somewhere else?

NAPA, Advance, Murrays, Pep Boys... the brand of wheel bearing maters more than where you get them.

The fronts are made by numerous companies, usually the mantra you get what you pay for applies here but the rears, there usually made by one or 2 companies and reboxed.

Anyone know a good brand for the fronts? I think the rears are fine for now.

Timkin, I believe, is what I always look for. I could be wrong, but I think they're one of the largest bearing makers in the world.

I usually use them on my trailers. They seem to be good quality.

I just looked at Rock Auto and they only have the rear bearings.

Napa couldn't even find parts for the turbo cars in their computer.

SKF, National, OEM which are usually one of the 2 listed.

Part number for SKF for the front is-

    BR930002 for 14" wheels-Hub assembly.
    BR930013 for 15/16" wheels-Hub assembly.
B42 1984-88-bearing assembly for the press in style.

Try finding parts for a 89 Dodge Daytona Shelby.

I know rock auto has them, I've looked at them before. Advanced has an archaic lookup system... Try Advanced.

And as mentioned above use the 89 Daytona Shelby as a good car to look up.

Yep, I tired having them look up for a Shelby and the largest wheel size Napa had listed was 15" and no turbo models. Maybe the guy was a moron. I'll try rock auto again.

Nope, I'm going to look for those as well. Napa doesn't carry any of these brands. I asked them what brand it was and I had never heard of them. Plus they were cheap, only about $60.

Edit, just found them on their site, BTW, you had the part numbers backwards.

    Holy crap! They're $119.00 per.

Re: Wheel Bearings; Where to Buy?

    Alright, here's what I got:

    Napa (SKF):$119
    Checker (National): $149
    Autozone (Timken): $145

I guess I'm just used to buying bearings, not the entire HUB. Then again I thought the dealer was only charging $90 for the OEM HUB.

No, numbers aren't backwards. I did have the BR wrong, it should be "B".

You can use those numbers to cross reference other brands.

Never heard of SKF? that figures, its a major bearing manufacterer, lol!

Napa's site must have them backwards then. I can't remember the brand they gave me over the phone but it wasn't SKF. However, they have them on their site and they seem to be the least expensive. However, it makes me want to scrap getting a new rack.
