Well, I'm tentatively planning on being there then. I've already done the mod on my CSX. I went a little further than his car though. IIRC you shaved about 25% for spool on his. I did nearly 50% on mine. You know my 50% rule anyway so I figured that it would hold true with the spool mod also. It's made a big difference.

ETA: Will you be doing the timing belt spool mod to this? I know it works like magic on the 8v motors to get the turbo spooled up at idle, but I'm wondering if you can do the same to the DOHC cars?
O.K., Its time to let some of us know about this magic mod!!

    Thanks

I'll let Brian spill the beans on this. If I'm not mistaken this is actually patent pending.

I did an FEA on the timing belt and found it had an SF of 2.1 so you should be OK with the 50% mod.

Looking great Brian! Nice work as usual!

I'm not going to be able to make Norwalk as it is the same weekend that Hot Rod Drag Week starts

What the heck. I may make it this year. Annually I'm in the area for work and it looks like I will be again.

Brian, I had to remove the belt mod from my car. At 10.65 lbs of boost (2.87 volts for the layperson), I found traction almost impossible with aggressive soft compound tires to the point my car was literally drifting around the track at the autocross. The substantial increase in HP cost me valuable seconds on my times. Hence, Steve Menagon can now say his car is faster than mine, WHICH we all know is clearly incorrect.

As for the work, outstanding!!! The IC setup is amazing, not to mention the fab work everywhere else. Hope I can make Norwalk to see it run this year!

Since the mod is still basically a secret for some of us, can you say if the mod is possible if using an aftermarket adjustable cam gear?

You didn't have traction because you were on two wheels!

Back to topic, Brian, your work looks fantastic. Please keep pics coming!

BOV located after the intercooler for clearance reasons? I know it doesn't really matter on a drag car as you won't be bypassing any "cooled" air in the middle of a full throttle low 8 second automatic transmission run.

Were there any pictures of your 25 point cage? Seems like that is your next problem. Not sure if you are trying to push the edge right now or just repeat previous times with less effort.

Yep, the bov fit better on the left sid of the car. And just as you mentioned, I won't be lifting during a run.

No pics of the 25.5 cage because they don't exist nor will they ever with this chassis. My intention is to break 8.50 cert then occasionally run quicker and yes, with less effort.

So this thread took a weird turn and I think I'm on the outside looking in... Is this lightweight spool-up cam thing a joke or reality? How do you underdrive a cam and have the cam stay in time? Crank gear wopuld need to be underdriven as well then right. Then what do you do about the dizzy as Jon runs an 8V motor?

Jon you are serious that your car was undriveable at 10.6PSI or did you mean just the autrocross. Wondering why I didn't get a chance to go for a he11 ride in it then?
