Thanks everyone! It did feel good to get back in the car after a long rebuild. I'm impressed so far with the new combo. The 8.84 pass was on 26 psi. When I bumped the boost up a bit more (28) the a/f was very fat and I was a bit low on the timing since I'm still working on what the motor wants for spark, car went 8.80
I will be taking the car to Cecil on the 14th, can't wait to get back in it :-)

I'm hoping to get that feeling myself one day.
Need to free up some time to send you some pictures Brian. Between work, home and now working on Satan's ride AGAIN I have had very little to spare.
Cecil or bust! I'm going to kick that CSX right in the jimmies till it cooperates.

I'm feeling pessimistic this morning but we will know this weekend. A lot of things have to go right in the next two days.
The last few days have not gone well with unexpected stuff being shoved on my plate as usual.
One foot in front of the other.. its how it gets done.

Badass! Great to see you and the car out racing again! With more tuning left to do it looks like it's running great! Any early impressions of the 2.4L compared to the 2.2L?

The people wandering around in the lane during your burnout make me nervous. They should be on the other side of a barrier.
What is going on with that little bracing visible on the dash cam?
Looks like the bars are touching, is that only when preloading the suspension or all the time? (thought that was illegal).
Any updates to the transmission? What is its current level of modification?

The bracing you see is for the windshield support. The bars do touch the ground but they are unloaded. There is approx 3/8" between the bars and the ground when you lift the bars up. So, yes in competition it would be considered illegal but for the test n tune stuff I'm doing, no one really cares.
The transmission is the same internally as it was in the past just inside a new case. Input shaft, output shaft, ring and pinion, transfer gears, valve body, direct drum, etc are things things that have been modified or replaced with bigger, better pieces.

What a great day on Saturday! I had the car out to the ABM nats at Cecil County.
I made a total of 3 passes but I was hoping for a couple more. The amount/level of cars this event draws is amazing. For my first pass I wanted to keep the boost the same as last time out only with some fuel changes to remove some of the over fueling I was seeing. I was very pleased with the first run, the track was cold and I felt the 60' could suffer. But the chassis loaded and she gripped to a 1.34 60' and went 8.75. I was certain the pass was going to be slow based on how it felt going down the track but it was just that smooth. This was on 27 psi.
For my 2nd pass I turned the boost up to 33. I thought the result was going to be a bit better than the 8.70 it ran however I was overestimating the amount of fuel I thought it needed and it was very fat. The fuel ring on the plugs was so dark I couldn't believe it.
On on my last pass I threw a few more digits into the boost controller and I brought the boost in a bit sooner and more aggressive. Data showed a max boost of 36 psi and it ran a very smooth and what seemed effortless 8.58 @ 162. The short time was a bit slower that I had hoped but the extra boost helped make up for the slow start.
I am am very pleased at how the car is performing. Especially at these early stages of swapping in a new engine combination. If I had the chance to make another pass or 2 I would have worked on the timing curve some. The plugs looks are showing low timing so I would have really liked to see what it would have done with some changes there. Oh well, there's always 2016....
Big thanks to Steve Menegon and Mike Marra for the help. It's a blessing to have great friends close by to lend a hand or ear.

+1 for the new adjective. -10 for just now realizing that P bodies are the best. Everyone knows that they have the highest factor of safety of any TM.
For my turn I'll suggest that it was an incredible feat and I'm really impressed with 163mph. Holy how, that's really moving. I can't wait to see what you do next year Brian.
