Some of the cheaper aftermarket ford TBs have leaky throttle plates and cause a lot of idle problems.
I think the ford racing one on summit is still under $200 so it might be worth it...
I am just going to go with a stock 87-93 60mm mustang unit. The 60mms are only $25 on ebay and are probably higher quality... The mustang unit is nice for Megasquirt since it uses a ford 2 wire AIC rather than the stepper type like the TD/Jeep/GM TBs use (2G neons also use an AIC rather than a stepper).
70mm is going to give a pretty bad tip in and possibly bad fuel economy. A 70mm TB is about the same throttel plate area as dual 49.5mm TBs. That means it is over twice the size of our stock 2.2/2.5 TB.

I recently got a couple stock Ford of 60mm Mustang TBs.
The throttle blades didn't seal as well as the Jeep unit I have and they were more bulky.
Overall I like the 4.0l Jeep TB better.

i got a 75mm off ebay and it sealed fine. even had a threaded shaft so i was able to use the TD cam with some minor modifications.
I don't have any great pics, so here are a ton of not so great ones
Rich: with 3" charge pipes after the chiller I wanted it 3" all the way through.
very nice.
351CW?
how did you mod the TD TB shaft?
are those two wires on the TPS or is that a charge air?
Awsome info thanks!
ok.....i think I see the intake sensor... in the second to last pic, between the rad cap and the BOV
whats the other thing there before the elbow?
You didnt mod the shaft on the TB you modded the "cam" which is the tab the linkage attaches to rite?
on your exhaust (pic on the stand) is that a scavenging nip?
Thanks a ton...I am at this part of my build and I need to get it done. My deadline is creeping on me. Mopar day at our track is june 27th!
Link dont work for me
But by reading the link the only think I see is that it is for a 4.6L... I would rather use the one for the 5.0L which has a few benefitas, the T-M TPS is almost a bolt on, etc.
I have a Power brand polished 5.0L 75mm TB I got off ebay for like $130 shipped seller was blueovalindustries or something like that?

CAT sensor is on the charge pipe pointing toward intake, yes the nipple on the exhaust is for crank case evac, there is also a nitrous nozzle on the charge pipe just after the CAT sensor, and the two wires near on the TB are for the WOT trigger, I used a 4.6 TB because I don't have an IAC controller on my standalone, and the one I got was from "[something] brothers" on ebay and was about 75$, there is a 1/16 hole drilled in the middle of the plate for idle air, and the car idles smooth as can be, though it took a bit of tweaking to get her there, no I didn't modify the mustang TB shaft in any way, he341, I had to cut my own gasket out of thick felpro gasket sheet because the mustang gasket-though easy to open up for the larger TB-is turdtastic and didn't seal worth a crap
I did a bit to make the TD cam work. I welded a little bead on the tab that is the closed stop where the screw pushes it out so on the mustand TB that nipple is what keeps the throttle blade from rotating too far, because if you just throw the cam on there the blade can open well past 90*. I cut up the TD bracket and welded it up as you can barely see to get the cable angle where I needed it.
My internet is down right now and has been for a few days which is why it took me so long to respond. I may have better pics of the TB cable bracket somewhere.
