    2004 Pacifica vs Mazda CX7

Coming home last night from a trip into town I am getting on the highway when one of those new CX7's comes running up on my tail. We get to the on-ramp and I see the CX7 just riding my back side. So I punch it, I could tell the CX7 did the same, but at about 60mph the Pacifica starts pulling away and I get up to about 80mph before the I could tell the CX7 had given up and I am about 3 cross-over lengths ahead of them.

There is a big curve in the highway just before my exit comes up and there is one exit before the curve. I see the CX7 take the first exit and flies down the service road trying to beat me to the second exit. But I never had to slow down so I just barely make it there before the CX7 has to yield for me.

Now with both of us on the service road and going about 35 - 40mph, the CX7 tries to pass me, so I punch it and hold them at bay, then again at about 60mph the Pacifica start pulling away again. The CX7 gives up again.

Not sure what the CX7 had in it (turbo or not), but I did see it was dressed up some - red with black-centered rims and sporty body trim. My Pacifica is the Touring edition with the 255HP 3.5 V6. I think it surprised the CX7, and me too.

im honestly really surprised. 3.5 pacificas arent too quick (16.5 or so?) and the cx-7 can run a high 15 stock, and its turbo.

cool story tho. pacifica is absolutely the most underappreciated thing chrysler sold for the past few years.

I ran against my buddy in his wife's '08 Pacifica AWD with the 4.0L and 62TE 6 speed auto in my Hemi Ram last night. I spun on loose stuff on the road when we took off. (I didn't have it in 4x4.) and we were dead even until I shifted into 2nd gear. Then I pulled a bit. Up to 60mph I had him by the length of my truck. (short bed reg. cab) The torquey 4.0L and the low 1st gear in the six speed definitely makes the Pacifica jump a bit more than the older 3.5L and 41TE 4 speed auto. I'd guess 16.0 in the quarter.

I've made one pass in mine when it only had 1500 miles on it and it ran 10.15 in the eighth mile. (about 15.7 in the quarter) That's what I judged it by and I did spin a fair amount before I pulled on it. My truck weighs 5220lbs. (It's just about as loaded as you can get a reg cab 4x4 Laramie!)
