What's a good inexpensive Eprom Eraser?
why not just get eproms you can erase with a burner?

Check out Ebay. I've seen several inexpensive ones. Personally though, I prefer the flash memory type chips, like the at29c256, or the 27sf512 that can be erased instantly with the burner. I've tried erasing the uv type chips and more often than not they wouldn't re-program even though they tested to be empty.
+1 on the willem burner with flash chips. I use the 27sf512 with a 8000 offset.
The 27SF512 is cheaper than the 27C256 now anyway. No reason to use the old UV-EPROM's at all, if you ask me...

Are there SBEC chips that are not UV erase. The only ones anyone seems to use for the SBEC are 87c257 chips which are UV.
No fun cars any more :(
I think thats the only chip still available for the SBEC.
some folks are working on some flash replacement boards for the SBEC but it might be a while till they get all the bugs worked out. so 87c257 for now.

I bought a germicidal lamp off of ebay and an 18" blacklight. Replace the black light lamp with the germicidal lamp and you've got a UV eraser.
Mount the light over the chip and COVER THE WHOLE THING UP. You should NEVER expose your eyes to the light from the germicidal lamp.
