    My ticket(s) a week ago....

So I was in Western Maryland a little over a week ago. There is a road that runs through the State Parks/Forests... it is called New Germany Road. It is one of the best roads is in the state for having fun. I have been having fun on that road for 10 years.

So the story goes that I was behind a SUV doing just under the speed limit of 50mph. I get to the straight away, pass him, wind it out to about 80mph, then slow it down to about 60mph. It then enters the windy twisty and such. On the corners I can see ahead, I cut them, etc. Well about 4 miles later, I look up in the mirror, and that SUV was an unmarked National Resources Cop... state land. So needless to say, I got two one point each tickets. 1 for speeding (knocked it down to 69 in a 50) and 1 for failure to stay right of the double yellow lines.

He walked up with a huge smirk on his face and stated that I was doing 75mph and cross the yellow line and where I was going in a hurry. I said, no where, I was having fun and being an idiot. My sister started laughing, he then kind of laughed. He sat int he car for almost 20 minutes. His last name was very familar, and I think he knew who my mom's family was and let me off a little early. Not to mention he referred to the road as the autobahn of Garrett County.

I needed the slap also. There isn't any reason for me to drive that spirited as I was beginning to do more often.... everything in moderation. The less you do it the more conscientious of your surroundings or of the car ahead of you for when you do drive spirited.

Gotta watch all the state owned vehicles in MD, well any police vehicles really. The use all kinds of stuff, Expiditions, full size Chevy pickups, full size Ford pickups, about any car you can think of. They use whatever, and they aernt the stripped down models, I think they use confinscated cars. We fixed about a 98 awd Talon turbo at my work. They be sneaky.

LOL. My buddy went flying by a marked Wildlife officer Dodge Ram one time. About 80 in a 45 I said "you'll get a ticket." His reply was he's not a cop he takes care of parks. He didn't have a radar, so all he could write him for was careless, or wreckless, which in Fl is a jailable offense. So my buddy got a careless driving fine and a hard lesson.

Re: My ticket(s) a week ago....

Honesty has worked for me - once in college, I had a Monday evening class. To get home, I had to drive thru the Trinity River Bottoms (basically, a flood plain with nothign but a road going thru it). The city of Ft. Worth (Texas) Police loved to patrol the roads going thru the bottoms just for the ticket money. Well, one night, I was in a hurry after class to get home to watch the kickoff of MNF - hey, the Cowboys were playing. Sure enough, there was a cop on a side road with the radar gun. I got nailed doing 55 in a 30. The cop came to the window and asked what the hurry was. I told him I was trying to get home in time for the kickoff. He went back to his car, came back after just a couple of minutes and told me if he wrote me a ticket, he'd miss the kickoff, too and to slow it down.

Man, I love Texas. The cops here in Michigan are zero tolerance...

Last summer I was at a light and looked over and there were 2 guys with black shirts and crew cuts sittin in a car with it running. It was a green Olds like a 98 or something. I put my window down and said "hey if you pull the realy out in the glove box the day time running lights wont work and nobody will know you were cops" (GMs have a relay in the glove box and if you pull it out daytime running lights dont work, otherwise you have to put on the e brake for them to go off), anyways he didnt have a nice look on his face, the light turned green and I left.

ya it does, i raced a friend of mine (tona vs chevy truck) i spun allt he way threw the intersection, neither of us saw the cop, well i got pulled over, so did he but i was ahead of him quite a bit so when the cop drove up to me he took off. He asked what were you doing there i said being stupid. He then came back and said well i see you dont have any tickets recently(2 1/2 years) so he let me off with a warning

LOL! That reminds me, one of the small towns near where I live used to have a VW Rabbit patrol car back in the '80s. They finally got rid of it because even Ford Pintos could ditch it!

Re: My ticket(s) a week ago....

Most Maryland cops I've dealt with are jerks. I grew up in Frederick.

One time a cop pulled me over immediately after I got off the Interstate. He said I was going 8 over the speed limit. My response was that I was decelerating. He gave me a warning and a repair ticket to remove my windshield banner (which was actually legal, by the way).

I've also been pulled over for "illegal lighting" (that didn't even exist on my car) and had 4 squad cars show up.

I've gotten off my last 4 tickets for being honest. Although none of them were outrageously over and only 3 were legit infractions and of those 3 only 1 cop was actually there to witness it.

Re: My ticket(s) a week ago....

I took a corner just the other night at about 3am. It was from a red light and I gave it some gas around the corner and it was just enough to make the tires chirp a little. A few seconds later a cop pulled me over and asked why I flew through the corner and if I was in a hurry. I just said sorry officer, no I'm not in a hurry. I didn't mean to have the tires squeak. He went back to his car and came back and just said drive safe. I think he was just looking for a DUI though. My eyes were bloodshot from my contacts and he kept asking if I had anything to drink tonight, where my glasses were, and why are my eyes bloodshot Cops are just regular people. Treat them like it and they'll treat you the same way. Be a dick about it, and you get a ticket. Or if they had a bad day you get the ticket too haha
