So then I don't understand how you are getting that I'm saying 30'' HG means more air?

I'm sorry. There was a misunderstanding. I originally asked if your idle vacuum would be lower with a bigger throttlebody or AIS passage. Your response was that your idle speed would be higher. I was originally talking about idle vacuum, and you thought I was talking about RPMs.
There we go. Yes, I should have said speed. Sometimes I'm expecting people to read my mind a little and don't always explain what I mean thoroughly. LOL. Glad we got that cleared up.
19-20 inHg on the GLHT. Used to be 21" when the engine was fresh.

My 2.2L Turbo Rampage idles at 17in/hg on my auto meter gauge and it has an 88' TBI cam, so i guess you can call it somewhat stock... It has no port work or bigger TB on it, so it's basically a stock motor internally
My 2.5L Turbo Daytona is at 17in/hg as well and is 100% stock with low miles. Same goes for my 2.5L Turbo Shadow. It also idled at the same vacuum
Elevation: 668 M (2,191.6 FT)
89 Spirit bone stock down to the cat, only mods are a grainger at 10psi and a K&N drop in. Idle is at 20in.

my car with 88tbi cam was at 17 and my buddies totally stock 89 csx is at 17...
An engine freshly built with 150 compression across the board usually pulls 18-19in

I think this can vary with the gauge your using as well. The Autometer gauge was off from the stock gauge in my Lebaron.

Stock gauge is worthless.
I have a couple of auto meters ive moved around from car to car and always get about 19-20 at idle on about 7 different engines 2 of them were 2.2 the rest 2.5 but thats with balance shafts removed and oil pump mods done and ive always run a roller cam and swirl head, auto and manual trans.
Does elevation have anything to do with those numbers though? Because my Rampage has a completely rebuilt motor with 150 accross the board, and all it ever gets is 17in/hg. This is coming from an Autometer boost/vac gauge BTW. I'm over 2000' above see level if that makes any difference. As long at it still boosts, that's all that matters to me, I'm just curious if being in high altitude would have anything to do with those #'s
Whats your cam and ignition timing set at? What cam is in it? A slider cam might not quite pull as much vacuum.
Stock cam pully, so no adjustment there. I believe my timing is at 10* so maybe that's why it's not pulling as much vacuum? It's an 88 TBI roller cam.
My other TD's all run at 17in/hg and are original untouched motors timed at 12* so that's why i figured 17in/hg was normal because all three of them idle at the same vacuum...
