    Re: How are sensa-trac?

Never tried Sensa trac but had GR2 on an old lancer shelby I had and they sucked. They were just really soft. Have the gas a just KYB on the back of my 89 CSX and those seem to work pretty good. CSX-T worked great when I put an nos set of Formola GPs on it. Took them off to go to the Konis a few years ago. Wierd thing is the GP were "almost" as good as the konis. Just picked up a set of Gaberial Ultra for my 89 CSX. I'll pass about how they work. Also I am pretty sure the struts and shocks you get at the dealer are all the base ones now seeing as all part numbers have changed over to a universal number.

    Re: How are sensa-trac?

I put gasmatics on the back of the voyager, it was that or nothing really, since they were on sale and I got a pair for $30. (2 for 1 deally). If anything they seem a little firm, seem to do the job okay so far. They've been pounding potholes for 6 months now and don't appear to have deteriorated any in that time. Handling is much improved over the tired pair I had on, back end is a lot less nervous. Doesn't seem to either wallow or kick if you cut the steering side to side. Seem to run okay with a full load. I'm quite happy for $30 worth, but I see ppl complain about them all the time.

    Re: How are sensa-trac?

My first TD (shadow es) came with a them. I put 25k+ on them. Dont really know how many miles were on them, But I didnt really have any complaints. Installed a set of 87 z springs and a big bar, and they were still fine. Didnt really have anything to compare them too. The rear shocks sucked thou. I couldnt get my car to hook (2.5+ 60's!). After watching a few tapes of it running it looked like it was trying to lift the front tires! I replaced them with airshocks and things got much better.

I dont think they are garbage like everyone says. Probally not the best option for a road course car, but they do work.

I run air shocks as well. Had a set on my old daytona, seemed to work better on the daytona though, but I was running a 2.2 in the daytona so it didn't have the low end torque that this 2.5 in this lighter shadow has.

Looks like I'm one of the very few who like the sensa tracks. I have them on the front of my R/T and they are great with the Eibachs. Good old airshocks are out back. There's a nice tight offramp near my home that I love to take quick. It's nothing to take it at 50 in the R/T, while with the GLHT 35 is pushing it before the rear starts to kick out.

I have one on my neon because a stock rear gave our pre-maturely. I haven't noticed any difference between it and the stock.

Just note, people have found that the KYB's can't control the stiffer spring.

    Re: How are sensa-trac?

OLD THREAD, but I'll bring it back to life. A bit disheartening, but nice to see some positive reviews. I just picked up a pair of Sensatrac's for my 85 LeBaron Coupe T1. I will let you all know how well they work with the new MOOG CC703 coils that are also shot, the super-sale is on RockAuto right now for $8.00 per shock! Right now it feels like a whispy cloud, so anything will be better than shot everything.

    Re: How are sensa-trac?

Please return them. Really, my old 87 T-top daytona had them put on brand new when it was owned by it's previous owner and a friend of mine. They are complete junk from day one. It's just in their design. I stated why in post #8 of this thread. They're also on my 87 Shelby Lancer I just bought and it's the same thing, crappy ride, bottoms out easily. Can't wait to get these off. Might steal the used Koni's off my hardtop Daytona, and go with the rich bryant suspension on the Tona.

    Re: How are sensa-trac?

Post 11 and 25 show promise to what they might provide me though... How would I go about returning parts to RA due to finding out they are "crap" shocks? They were $8.00ea, but if the majority doesn't believe they are even worth that then... I might as well get a different pair then huh? Are the MOOG CC307 or 703 replacements an OEM copy or a little stiffer? Mine are shot either way so it'll be much improved.

    For shocks:

    Gabriel-Ultra
    KYB-GR2
    Gabriel-Guardian
    or ACDELCO-RoadResponse ?

I have Sensatracs on the front of my Lebaron with a uncut Eibachs, they've held up for 4 or so years now, but they never damped them properly. Just not strong enough. Does ride good though...

    Re: How are sensa-trac?

I've run sensa-tracs on almost every TM I've ever owned, including my current RWD setup and never had a problem. I've blown out Bilsteins and KYB's, but never a sensa-trac. I've worn out a few over the years after being on multiple cars, but they were relaced under warranty. I hate to break this to the haters, but many of Mopars shocks and struts are made by Monroe.

Can we get 5000s for the cars? My buddy runs them on his Toyota truck and I'd love to have a set to crank all the way up when drag racing.

Most OEM Mopar struts are made by tokico, bilstien, koni, and sachs.

    Re: How are sensa-trac?

I had Monroe shocks on the back of my Daytona for about 5 years without a problem... at stock ride height/stiffness. Once I put in my Mopar Performance springs, it only took 3 weeks until they turned to junk. By then, the car bounced around so bad that it felt like I had unbolted them all together. Upon removal, I could push them in with one finger. I replaced them with KYB Gas-A-Just shocks. Now we're talking!

Current setup is Gabriel Ultras in the front, KYB Gas-a-Just in the back, and old-school Mopar Performance Road Race springs. It's stuck pretty good now in the twisties considering the age and weight of the car and the tires that are on it.
