    putting together TIII engine...

Instead of me making a bunch of new threads i thought it would be a good idea to keep all my questions in this one thread as i build up the engine.

    First question:
    ARP head studs
how much thread is sticking out from the block side on your set up? i have 3 threads showing for all studs...i tightened them down finger tight as the instructions say
you guys torqueing the nuts down to 85 with the moly lube?

thats it for now, I'm sure ill have a few more as time goes by

Depending on which studs you have, they might bottom out in the head before the collar or non threaded part bottoms out in the threads, in that case, you need to turn them aprox 1-2 turns out so theres no chance of them bottoming out.

Anywhere from 75-100 ft/lbs. What turbo/boost/gasket are you using?

Yeah, thats what I used, so make sure there not bottomed out. Moly lube, 85 is fine.

The threads showing is irrelevant, make SURE they don't bottom out.

Yes, I could tighten mine down and have threads showing, as I've said in my first post, doesn't matter,

    SECOND SET OF QUESTIONS

    oil seals
-does the front oil retainer share the same bolts as the int shaft retainer? (i didnt take it apart, thus i dont know)
-there is this long skinny bolt that i got back from the machine shop..would it by chance be part of the rear seal?
    - anyone know the part# for the int shaft oil seal? I bought a MOPAR bottom end gasket set but it doesnt seem to have it!

Three of the bolts are the same. One of them is about 3 times as long. They are all M6x1 but I dont know the length off the top of my head.

The rear seal should share the same size as the three in the front retainer.
Any other ?s about assembly just ask,I can put these things together in my sleep these days. I even could tell you all the torques and sequences from memory

The int shaft retainer uses 10mm headed bolts, aprox 1.5 inches long. The front and rear crank retainers also use the same bolts but one bolt is aprox 2.5" long.

The int shaft seal is the same as the cam seals on 8valve motors.

I used a socket about the same size as the large diameter and tapped it in.

Sockets and put some Anerobic sealer on the outer edge, they slide in nice and easy and stay put. When installing the seals, you might have to use a small pick/screwdriver to carefully lift the seal around the sharp, square edges of the crank and int shaft.

If your asking that question, should you really be building your engine?
