    Neon A413 with a 2.2/2.5?

Is there any difference from the Neon A413 and turbo A413s from Daytonas, Minivans, ect... The junkyard near my house has PLENTY of them for cheap, it's almost impossible to find any turbo A413's near in my area...

You'll also need the input shaft from a earlier non-lockup trans!

or run a lockup trans and converter and leave it unplugged. That way you have a future option.

If you can get a GOOD neone 413 core, thats great, because they have a lot of little upgrades over the older trannies, and it all swaps into your case perfectly. The lockup stuff doesnt really have any downside to use.. its not more expensive that i know of.. last time i bought a neon converter it was like $72 shop cost, and its a lockup unit. its in my 3.0/670 grand caravan now.

Can a 1989 A413 from a turbo mini be built to be a lockup trans?
IE turbo guts and lockup on the freeway for best MPG?

Is there any machining needed to put the transfer gears from the 1984 A413 into the 1989 case?
The idea is to get the 2.4 overall top gear ratio for highway MPG.

    Re: Neon A413 with a 2.2/2.5?

Ive never heard of a 2.4 overall ratio, only 2.6. What are you looking at to see 2.4:1? Even at 2.6:1 final drive ratio you can get 1st gear to go to 60 mph at high rpm so i dont think you'd want to go any taller than that.. it would just make the car slow

As for making a lockup trans as strong as a turbo trans, absolutely! The only big difference in power holding between the turbo/v6 trannies and everything else is the number of clutch plates stuffed into the two clutch drums, and that's basically only determined by how high the snap-ring groove that holds the top plate is machined into the drum. It all interchanges so you can just put the turbo drums into the lockup trans and you're most of the way there already.

Dont push the red button. You hear me?

Yes, I am building one as I am tired of the screaming highway rpm. My current trans has .91 transfer gears, stock ring and pinion which I think is 3.02, so that nets me a final drive of 2.60, taller tires and a tighter converter and its still 35-3800 rpm at 75mph, . It helps and I didn't really notice the low gears around town but my 1/4 mile is suffering and it could be one reason for lag, so when I go back to the LU case, going back to the stock transfer gears, which puts me back to the 3.05 final drive I believe.

I am getting my case drilled but first I have to check a LU case to make sure they are the same, if not, I'll just use a LU case from a 90+ car, swap my guts over, proper input shaft, put the solenoid on my valve body, Neon tc and turn it on in my SMEC.

    Re: lockup A413 2.5

    OOPS!
    I meant 2.60 OATG
Who can build me a lockup A413 with the '84 transfer gears for the 2.60 OATG?

If anyone is interested I can send you an excel spreadsheet for the A413.
You can then play with different tire diameters and final drive ratios.

Cliff Ramsdel or TU or FWD are the better bets in the US, I do them for my Canadian buds,
