One thing to remember on pearl and candy colors is that if you get a chip or a scratch... it's real hard to fix...must have the whole panel sprayed.

Turbo Regals had a dark Charcoal option available that was slightly lighter than black... It was a GM color. Sorry Ken, no real help, but merely a point of reference, boss-man.

I would go with this personally. This just looks so awesome. Only downside is I think it's enamel, which really isn't that bad but not many people are using it and not sure if just ANYONE can paint it.

There was a nice color my parents had on their 1978 Chrysler Newport that was like what you are suggesting, Ken. I'll have to do a quick paint color search in the morning when I get home since I don't have access to it at work. It was even named after Charcoal!

That photoshop of slasky's car looks amazing!
Okay, I checked. Search under 1978 Chrysler paint codes. It is called "Charcoal Gray S/F Metallic" and is code A9.

Found the color.. None mentioned... It was used for the paint on the trim on my SL. Called the painter... What is that... His answer, a black based charcoal. It was sitting right in my driveway...
