he wants it as close as you can get a gray color to black. i think you are looking for a matte black like what was used on the GMC syclones in 1991 on all the cladding. it looks gray but its matte black
He could do black, but with a pearl to it that would only be noticed in the sunlight. I've seen some black paint with a purple pearl.... or do a gold pearl.
Has to be done by a professional, though. I've seen some pearls gone bad.

Pretty sure Ken is looking for a gloss paint so matte black isn't what he needs.
Ken, I would get in touch with Kaleb (Spoolinhard) here. He works at D&R auto paint with my uncle Mike. Mike knows paint better than anyone I've ever talked to and he car probably get you a PPG paint code for what your looking for.

What about the near-black graphite pearl that's on the SRT8 Chargers?
Keep it coming... you have the drift...

Not sure how good your monitor is Ken, but here is a site I just found for looking up paint codes.
I selected the metallic sheet to start you with

Well, it used to be that there is really no such thing as black, just really dark shades of brown but then it might not be that way anymore.

Any decent paint shop will have color books you can look through, that would probably be the best bet for what your looking for. If they're good they'll even mix a custom color to your liking.
Seriously though, this is going to be very interesting. I like the idea of this a lot. I am thinking of getting the decals for the omni done up like this over the black someday.
There is a dark charcoal metalic color I want to use on the Rampage. I have only seen it on the new Thunderbirds, on any other Ford, it's just not the same shade. It's and awesome color IMO, and I'll let you use it on your car too Kenny, we could be twins

Bah, how about a little red?
I remember a friend having a 89ish daytona in BLACK CHERRY, I think it was a stock color.
Is this like slasky's post a while ago when I asked my g/f to do some photoshop work? I remember you liked the graphite, but I can't get a paint chip or code.
L body's look great in graphite.
^^That's what I'm thinking of doing to my Charger someday, but with the skunk stripe several shades darker as well- just a few shades lighter than the body color. Kicker is going to be getting sidestripes to match though.

check out Mopar's Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat.
it 1st appeared i believe in 2004 on the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Chrysler 300. it is now available on the 2008 Dodge Ram trucks.
its not true black, very graphite-inspired with a fantastic shine and appearance in bright sunlight.
I vote for a late 80's 190 2.3 16v mercedes charcoal black, that was a very nice pearly black. Where's money?
LOL... Gotta take a look at the chip... Nice suggestion.
