    GLHS Strut tower bars/frame stiffening??

    Hey guys,

I've got an 87 S car here and I'm looking to further upgrade the suspension/chassis on the car. There is already a complete Poly bushings everywhere, Konis rebuilt, upgraded sway bars front/rear. The question is whats next and whats available short of custom fabrication.

Does any vendor out there have front or rear tower bars?

    Thanks in advance.

    Nick

Fronts are available, check out www.fwdperformance.com or www.turbosunleashed.com and I think www.polybushings.com also.

As for rears, I don't think you can run one due to the setup but I could be wrong.

Have you thought about running subframe connectors? Those would have to be custom made.

Thanks for the replies so far guys, Simon just as a heads up incase you didn't realize, this is for an L body. I did do some searching for these myself before asking for help. I've spoken with both Cindy and Chris already neither one stocks or offers them at this time for these cars. I just sent an email off to Johnny at Polybushings first since I've bought ALOT of mounts and such from him already. I will give him first shot at a sale.

Is FM still in business? I gave up on Mike a long time ago....

Edit...didn't see you put there website up there till after posting this response. Thanks

BTW, if Polybushings makes one, I'll take one also & I'm sure gaboon(Joey) will take one too. We've always wanted to get one but just never got around to it. FM's looks nice, just a bit pricey, but then again, no one else seems to make one.

    Keep us posted please, thanks.

CS racing might make one. Chris's stuff is top notch. I have a rear bar for the Daytona... He is a vendor on theis site as well.

If you come up with a sub-frame connector idea, please share..

that FM bar is the old D&E designed bars. I have a front and a rear D&E bar for my Omni although I don't think I'll use them. Your next best thing to do is to stich weld the inner fenders to the frame. Seen many a Lbody being pulled apart there from hard cornering on sticky tires.

    Hey Ken,

Long time to speak. Got a link to CSracing? I don't see him listed as a vendor. Thanks in advance.

Oh by the way this is Nick A. from Long Island, NY!!! Feels like forever since the last SDAC I made it too.

Re: GLHS Strut tower bars/frame stiffening??

Hey guys thanks for all the input and links. I've got a good friend thats an engineer and has access to a waterjet. So it looks like for right now we're going to go over the car and look into making some pieces ourselves.

BOOSTGEEK, if you could send me a PM when you get yours to let me know how that one fits I'd be very interested.

PS Johny gave me some really nice ideas on an upper/lower front bar setup, going to try hard to make a bar that connects the strut towers to eachother as well as the firewall. I'll post up pics/progress as it goes along the car will be back in the shop in a week or 2 for its 500 mile oil/tuneup. (new motor)

    Thanks
    Nick
