What the heck kind of lug nuts do I need???

I bought new wheels/tires from discount tire direct recently when they had their big sale. Had a few minutes this afternoon and wanted to try and put one on just to see what it looked like. When I got the rim on the studs, the lug nuts would just barely go in the hole, but there was NO WAY I was getting a socket on them. Tried a different lug nut that was a bit smaller on the hex size, but same thing. Any idea what kind of lug nuts I would need??

here is the wheel in question:

Ill call discount tire tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone knew what I was talking about here.

    thanks,

those are tuner style wheels, most of them porbably use lug studs with round caps and a hex tool to get them locked down. you might have to look around for a universal set that fits

I've ran similar bolt patterns, lug hole styles. There's a lug that gorilla makes. Every single one requires a key. The lug nuts are basically a formed cylinder with grooves cut in the side. I'll try and find a pic.

Spline drive nuts. Those work pretty well from what I have seen. Make sure you buy good nuts as the cheap ones don't last long, and you don't want lug nuts to fail.

I have a set of nuts for the omni that are 17mm with the same seat angle as stock and they fit really well in there. If by chance you were trying to get an impact socket in there and it would not fit, they do make thin wall impact sockets, or just leave the gun alone and use a regular one.

I was just trying to use a regular socket. I dont think even a thin wall regular socket would ever fit. Guess Ill have to buy some of the splined nuts you guys are talking about.

    thanks!

There's other ones on there if you search Gorilla Lug nuts, but they're not actually gorilla and I'd question their quality. Gorilla's quality is quite good in my opinion. I have some that are old as hell. All the threads look brand new and so do the lugs. They've even seen winter in michigan.

Discount sells that lug key for $8 or whatever as well if you want a new one from Gorilla.

+1 for the gorilla brand. Those and Mcguard are the only ones I would buy. I would prefer the gorilla brand as the mcGuard brand has been lacking in recent years from what I have seen.
