    Dual stage boost controller...

Anybody know where I can get some kind of selenoid to make a dual stage boost controller? The one that I can just use two G-valves and it switches back and forth between them. Thanks

I got mine from Brian Bucar. I think it is from an srt4 since it looks just like the ones on my car. I would think you would be able to use a solenoid from any TM.

Pretty similar to the one I have on my dual stage from dawes.

So I can use the stock selenoid? How would that work? I'm guessing have a boost controller set to my high boost level hooked straight to manifold vacuum source and the low boost on the selenoid that I can switch on and off? And when off it won't send any pressure through and the high boost will take over, and they are both T'd into the wastegate?

the solenoid has 3 ports, in, normall open, normall closed. Connect the in port to a normal manifold vaccum source, NO to you low stage g-valve, NC to your high stage g-valve, then T the 2 valves together and connect them to the WGA

the way you explained should work too

MX6 board has a good write up ,with a diagram of how to install.
I currently run this on my R/T. I am using a stock TM solenoid.

The stock 88 and older turbo car solenoids are three ports, and here are instructions for making a simple 2 stage boost control with one solenoid and two g-valves courtesey of Demsey's site.

    Re: Dual stage boost controller...

OK OK I got it now. I'm not running a ''G'valve'' per say, just a MBC. I don't like having to take the line off the adjust it.
Anyway, the 1 selenoid (the factory wastegate control) only has 2 barbs but the other one does have 3. This is great I got all the info I need. Thanks guys!

If you are doing your own cals, you could use the switchable boost setting that Rob has added to all the cals.

I don't like using the stock selenoid only, spools too slow. I get 200-300 RPM faster spool with a MBC.

It's just a matter of tuning. You should be able to get better boost control with the computer...

What difference does it make if it's air pressure openeing a valve or electric current? If it opens/closes at the right time, they should work the same, right?

    Re: Dual stage boost controller...

In theory yeah they should work the same, but I've never seen it! The selenoid has always been slower spoolup. I don't know why. Perhaps an aftermarket selenoid would be better and faster reacting. I think the stock selenoid reacts slow and therefore starts to open too soon causing slower spoolup. Just thinking outloud here....

From everything I have read it is the cal. You can adjust the WG DC table and get things set to your liking. Many guys say that they have it ramp up just as fast as with the MBC, but without all the hassle.

    Re: Dual stage boost controller...

Got it hooked up today, I got my other MBC ordered and in the mail so for today I just hooked the line straight to the wastegate for my low boost side.
It works anyway, but it seems like the selenoid doesn't flow enough or something. With a line straight to the wastegate before I get a max of 7 PSI. Hooked up to the selenoid, it hits 7 and then slows down but it creeps all the way to 15 PSI by the time I'm at the top of the power band. This still might work OK because when the boost first hits it hits soft being only 7 PSI and then as the revs go up it goes to 15. Then once in third gear when I get traction I can smack the switch and run whatever I got my MBC set for. So I may not even need a second boost controller I dunno.
