Great to read that post JT. Glad to hear that you had some good runs with new PBs even though the trans is giving you trouble still.
Thanks... yeah, lotsa stuff to work out on it...

Was great to finally meet face to face. Your Z was deff impressive, getting out after just getting back together and putting down some good #'s! So after all the talk about howe "harsh" a solid hub disk is "supposed" to be on the street, what's your take? I have found that tend to forget I even have a solid hub disk. lol

Great to meet you too! and thanks, just glad to have it back out again, now to make it hook! I ran a solid hub in it when it was a 2.2L and have one in the shadow I have driven all over the place... I really dont think there is an issue... for those that do, maybe they need automagics? LOL...

No other pics, the old short block is on the stand awaiting autopsy...

I think a lot of people recommended a crank LAST year when the pulley slipped on the last motor... time flies

I was pricing out a rebuild for the 413 and its downright scary how cheap and readily available most everything is... just about everything from the oil pump to the rear planetary can be replaced with new parts for $1000 or less.

    Runs from Byon last wekend...

Run #1 - Right off the trailer, 30psi, SPUN HARD in 1 and 2 then lost too much RPM sp bogged in 3, too much... got out of it then back in it... big mph pick up in the second half...

    R/T: -.042
    60': 1.963
    330': 5.341
    1/8ET: 8.605
    1/8mph: 21.93
    1000'ET: 11.631
    1/4ET: 13.708
    1/4mph: 114.15

Run #2 - Spun hard again, 3 gears... cut out in 4th

    R/T: .273
    60': 1.931
    330': 5.140
    1/8ET: 7.579
    1/8mph: 104.15
    1000'ET: 9.618
    1/4ET: 11.346
    1/4mph: 130.62

Run #3 - Spun less hard still 3 gears... cut out in 4th .... BUT it was a FUN RACE! The Dart in the right lane pulled a wheelie off the line and was GONE... so I chased him down and if it dditn cut out in 4th woulda flew by him before teh stripe instead of after like I did

    _ME______DART_
    .245 R/T .195
    1.863 60' 1.486
    5.033 330' 4.447

    11.148 1/4ET 11.109
    130.52 1/4mph 117.2

Run #4 - No data log of last run with cutout so ran again Spun less hard again still 3 gears... cut out in 3rd and 4th

    R/T: .179
    60': 1.898
    330': 5.061
    1/8ET: 7.742

    1000'ET: 9.898
    1/4ET: 11.691

Bryon... NOT a good FWD track

The cut out? I think the crank trigger needs adjustment...

Sure, blame the track... I run my best times there. I don't see how a track could be better for RWD or FWB... seems like which wheels are driving the car shouldn't matter.

Sure you ran your best time, but what other tracks have you run at since you got the car in the 12's?

OK, "not FWD friendly" also has to do with driving around the water then backing into it (gay)

For traction I should be more specific and saying it is "not FWD Turbo" friendly... the starting line is sticky, but 60' out and after that is definitely not so the car spins more in the top of each gear when in the boost.

While waiting for them to clean the guy in front of me's needle bearings (u-joint) off the track, I asked the track guy how the groove is and he said "the whole track is sticky, in or out or the groove", then I spin 1/8 mile every pass

    GLD 12.9
    Byron 12.8

I don't exactly have enough power to worry about spinning anything that far down the track so....

How would that be different from a Turbo RWD car? Wouldn't they spin just as much?

So less than a 10th... that could be weather, air temp, or cuz Bryon runs down hill? LOL....

RWD cars load the rear tires all the way down the track. FWD cars fight for traction as the front wheels are unloaded. You know this already, right?

It comes down to track prep, and I didnt see any or experience any at Byron, but then a lot of tracks dont unless its a big event

Maybe could try switching tires side to side on the front...

Thinking about how the surface will kind of burr and feather over one way, like the "grain" on the back of leather... so it's smooth one way and rougher the other...

So you take advantage of the rough for one or two runs, then when it tails off, switch back again...

I've done that... just needs to be a damn good track, not enough suspension or tire under it now

I made a check list a couple pages back... got the 89 k-member/LCAs from Turbodave, just need to get some bushings from Johnny and get it on the car... oh yeah, need to order the Koni inserts for coil over conversion.... THEN try to squeeze soem 26" rubber in there
