Need to try low boost launch... some slo-mo footage towards the end of this:

I see that last evo was very careful with his clutch, rolling out and then the car takes of where yours basically looks like a clutch dump. Almost every fwd I have seen that is quick seems to launch like that while powerful AWD's that make a lot of passes without breaking ease out.

Didn't get a chance to install the ghetto 2-stage boost but will bring ti with to the track.
Good news is I found the boost leak(s) and cause of high idle. I plugged the turbo inlet and put compressed air into the pressure tap on the comp housing. Soapy water blew bubbles at the TB gasket and the pipe to TB connector hose, and a weld on the BOX flange (that must have always been there)
OK, no problem to fix those... took the IC to TB pipe off and then the TB off the intake... and then I found the real problem. The TB shaft was broken at the screw hole on the side closest to the throttle lever!? hole in the plate was probably the cause of the high idle, bingo.. WAIT a MINUTE, Where is the Screw!?!?!?? Crap! OK, so the setup has the TB inlet facing down towards the IC and then goes up into the intake, the screw head side is on TB inlet side... so maybe it fell into the IC? I put the magnet on flexible shaft in to the IC.. nothing. Then I shoved it into the intake plenum and fished around.. nothing. hmmm.. OK, snuck the camera into the IC and took a pic, no screw. Then took several pics of the inside of the plenum of the intake and nothing that looked like a screw. The runners / raised port velocity stacks are on the side of the plenum and I was thinking crap, how the hell did it fly up into one of those? I'm sure it could have, but then, I think it would have hurt an intake valve, piston, head, exhaust valve, turbine ... hmmm.. looking at the pics the floor of the plenum is pretty much flat except the Air temp sensor and one vacuum/pressure tap... hmmmm... pull the vacuum line off and bingo, there's the screw! yay!
OK, so now I gotta decide what to do... this TB was junk. BTW, it was a "POWER" brand off ebay, and it was pretty cheap, so guessing Chinese for sure. Iwas working on the car to fix the issues so I could take it to the track tomorrow. Hmm... well, it is a Ford Mustang TB, what are the chances someone has one on the shelf? Called up Winner's Circle in Joliet and they had both BBK and Edelbrock 75mm TBS in stock! I headed out and ended up picking up the BBK as it was $15 less and I think it looked a little nicer too. All flange surfaces were machined and the Edelbrock some were "as cast"... I'm sure both work OK. Also picked up a spare TB gasket and a weatherpack connector. The Power TB had an adjustable TPS mount and I modded it to use the mopar TOS. The BBK (and edelbrock) didn't have they type of mount, but they did come with a Ford TPS... so I figured the connector was all I needed.
Went home, prepped TB (filled AIS holes with cold weld, modded TPS, swapped AIS block off plate from old TB.) and put it all back together. After the TB was sealed up, found and fixed a couple more boost leaks.... and woke up the neighbors at about 11
we'll see how she does at the Grove tomorrow!

What do you mean by modded TPS? Ford TPS voltage range is different then ours. When I was using a stock ecu with Ford 65mm TB I ghetto modified our stock TPS to work using a small screw (cut head off) that I slotted on both sides so that the shaft would transfer its position to the Chrysler sensor. this required longer then normal screws to hold the sensor in place and I can't tighten it otherwise it binds up. :P
Now with MS I really should have swapped back to a real Ford TPS sensor by now.

I modded the ford TPS by removing the ford connector and soldering on a weatherpack that plugs right into the harness.
Interesting to note, the Mopar TPS range was like 13% to 73% and the Ford one is like 18% to 94%, so yeas, the V ranges are different, but that really doesn't matter too much for the FAST ecu

OK quick update... will add more later.
Made 4 passes Sunday, the new TB works great. That and the other boost leaks fixed combined with cool air up from 28psi to just over 30.
Didn't get a chance to set up or try two stage boost.
I do think I might have figured out the cut out! First pass missed 2nd but was clean (no cut out) was 11 something but 135.5mph so TB works. Second pass cut out at the lights, was 10 something at lower mph. Cam sensor is blocked from oil now and thought to look there again. The wire loom (black split wrap0 was melted to the charge pipe. Hmmm thermal issue? I moved the wire and it did not cut out the next two runs!
Next pass was 10.64 @ 138, best for this trans/tire combo! But it felt funny pulling up from the water to the line, like it was stuck to the track? Hmm... next pass, the car felt like it was stuck to the track again... whatever, ran with it. Wow, the whole way down the track I hade to steer to the right to keep it in the groove! Drove fine down return road.. hmmm... 10.80 at 133.
Looked at it last night, the right front brake is sticking. bad hose. Started putting new calipers and hoses on the front (both sides since it is all 26 years old!) and the metal line on the drivers side broke.. damnit! oh well, we'll see if we can get it done before this weekend...

Well since a lot of us run bigger TB's that obviously give a bogus amount of airflow per throttle opening compare to stock, it might not be a big deal and is more of a worry if you are a part boost throttle kinda person.
------------
Can I mentally knock off any time from the 10.64 for brakes dragging? Are you still worried about having to shift very quickly to make up time? Axles still good Pressure in the tires? I wonder how much different yours needs to be because of weight.

Not too much of an improvement over last year, but good enough to have the car beat last year's time, and also this was on the 24.5's quicker than the axle destroying 26's... hmmm...

OK, dug through the archives to see what tire size and FDR have done for the car. Obvious that there are way more variables (air temp, launch rpm, shifting speed, etc) that I do not have exact data for but the ening combo has pretty much been the same and it is interesting that each combo is actually quite close...
