That's awesome. It always so nice to hear things roar to life especially when you've been having problems.

90psi cold idle (1000ish RPM), 30psi hot idle and around 50psi at cruise at 2200RPM. 10W30 Mobil1 with no mods to the pump body. From memory anyway which isn't always the best.

Wow... I am really curious your pump clearances now... the billet gear I have is supposed to be the same thickness as a DCR... but your pressures are what i have had with the last motor on a stock pump and 10w40...

That sucks you're having all these problems, hope its all behind you now.

I'm old school and like to keep things simple too. I've been using 20w 50 forever and never broke an oil pump. I don't use a oil baffle in the oil pan, I think the oil mist helps keep the engine a little cooler but I may be wrong. I may be lossing some HP but its not hurting me much or cousing any problems.

what fuel and octane have you been running?

Just to add to the fuel stuff, I used to run C16 at $13 a gallon and switched to Sunoco 114 at the suggestion of my machine shop. They said on their engine dyno it makes the exact same horsepower and has the same knock resistance Good thing is they always have it in stock and they only charge me $9 a gallon

I was getting quite a bit of knock with any brand 110. BUT....you have a much better head than a 1982 G head. LOL

C16 was developed for engines running nitrous and will see little if any hp gain if your N.A.
if it keeps me from breaking thing I'll pay the price.

Hmmm... I agree a car needs the octane with spray or higher boost, but it seemed to run OK on 110 and 30psi... solid 11.5:1, clean plugs...

I know Mr. Slowe has mad skillz and just drilled his damper/crank by eye but its the crank! I only got one of those (well two but the other one is now prolly beat to F) ... so after hearing Tommy mention he saw a blower kit have a keyway drilling tool/guide... I thought, sheeet man, I can make stuff like that!

Agreed... i may not NEED C16, but for a few extra bucks a season... i don't want to find out the hard way that I might need it.
