Don't know how I did it, but I did it.
I assume I can tap it in somehow to get it to fall into the oil pan, but I'd rather not. I did enough on this car to last me a lifetime >
Ideas on pulling it out? I've got a spare dipstick.

Sometimes an easy out works.

The best thing I have foundif to drive it in the pan and then take the pan off,as anything you do will get shavings in the pan that the pick up tube wont catch and then you have metal going in the pump.
Best way is to take the pan off to tap it out, but a EZ out should work too. Definitely be carefull not to get garbage in the pan tho!

had to pull my pan
look at it this way.....ya have a reason to look at all the cool parts inside again.....<addicted to motors>.
punched mine thru with pan down and it was fine

I used a thing that looks like a reverse drill bit with a hex head and tapped in with a hammer and pushed down hard while I was backing it out, i got lucky
Heh. I ended up pulling the pan and tapping it out.
I have much bigger problems now, though :P
my conversation:
"hey jimmy I broke my damn dipstick tube"
"tap this thing in there after work"
*after work I tap it in and push down whil going leftey loosey*
*it pops out*
jimmy says
"man you got lucky, you didnt have to to pull the pan cracka (he calls me cracka)
*insert new dipstick, no oil leakage*
"hey jimmy sweet it doesnt leak"
"lets go to the bar"
"ok Ill wash my hands, meet you there"
