6 speed transmission in an L body

I'm sure this has been asked before and I looked but found nothing. Has anyone done a 6 speed conversion in any of the earlier FWDs from a later FWD? I thought Dodge made the Neon with a 6 speed and I was wondering if they did, if it would bolt to our blocks? If they didn't, then this just disregard this thread.

    Thanks!

never made a 6 speed fwd, well the caliber is but isn't sch. to be out til 07 and its a world motor so i don't know if it will have a similar bolt pattern to our old engines.

I thought that the SRT4 caliber is going to be a 2.4. Will it be a different design than the motor that came in the neon SRT4?

The proposition of a 6 speed in my omni intrigues me greatly. That whole dual FD buisiness would be wild, and MPGs would be wicked in a car a light as an L with it.

Well that is what I was wondering, but wasn't sure. I thought at some point they had built a 6 speed tranny for the Neon, but it may have been a proposal and not an actual build. I'd love to fit a 6 speed in my car!

Re: 6 speed transmission in an L body

Yes its the 2.4 but i could have sworn it was the world motor shared by dc, mistu and hyundai. that engine i don't know if it has the same bolt pattern as say a 2.4 in the srt which could bolt up to one of our engines with only one bolt missing and can be corrected with a l bracket for the l body. Then you factor in the car is awd and i don't know if that trans can be used fwd without problems.

the turbo caliburs aernt AWD, only FWD. Yea it is the new world engine design as far as I can tell. There was a 6sp offered in the Wrangler 2.4 though. But I think it was only 4wd.

Weird that the RT caliber will be AWD but not the SRT platform... that doesn't make any sense.

That is odd, but is sure does make it easier to get that transfer case to hold together.

You would think so. But the evo is being built on the same platform with a version of the same motor and it's getting awd.

Great point. I think it will take a while for me to get used to the idea of the evo and caliber being based off of the same platform.

    www.Quaife.com

They supposedly can make a 6-speed for our cars, but the price back then was substantial the last time I heard mention of this.

I can't remember the price.... it's either 7k...or closer to 15k. Sorry... I think if you look in the SDML archives you may find the info, but obviously get better results contacting quaife directly.
