    Any Honda Guys?

I need a little help. I'm helping a friend put a new engine in his 94 Prelude. Stock was an H23a01 he bought a J-Spec (so he claims) H23a03. Anyone know the differences? We had to swap over about every accessory and bracket possible.

The problem is that we have like 5 random plugs/connectors with no partners, all of which seem to be worthless emissions anyway. BUT, we have no fuel no spark. I'm going to go to town on some wiring diagrams later this week, but I just fgured I'd open it to discussion.

the H23A3 is a European version of the H23A1, it seems to be the same thing except its missing the A1's knock sensor and has an added oil cooler.

Both engines are non vtec and the swap sounds like a waste of time

Well he wasn't looking for any performance gains at the moment. The original engine snapped the timing belt and bent every valve known to man. He ordered the engine off the internet. Personally I would have just browsed junkyards and got the correct year so the swap would have been easier. We had to swap the distributor as it wasn't the same and I'm wondering if this could be an issue. The year of the engine we have is unknown.

Yea If i was there to un-plug all of the sensors I would have a better idea where they went. It seriously seems like there are 20 sensors and 30 connectors.

Yes, but what hes saying is that there is like 5 lone connectors without a home.

he's mistaken, there should only be the missing knock sensor, its on the back of the block on a b-series. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to add it from the old engine.

put it this way its like taking say a 87 TBI 2.2 and putting it in a 94 2.2 Car.

also its a euro engine, not jdm or jspec or anything else that inflates its value.

I see what you're saying and I agree. However that is in theory. The problem isn't in the engine differences it's in the model year differences. Either way it will be solved. We're going to work on it friday night after work so I'll report back then.

not to bash the fact ur swapping it but ya it is kinda pointless, no more power, probably cost a lil more. i woulda went h22 especially in a prelude. good luck on it though

I'm not sure if i mentioned already but the only reason it's going in is as a replacement. The old engine bent 932,149 valves so this was easier to do than fix that one.

    Re: Any Honda Guys?

Well I guess this thread got moved but I just figured I'd give a final result. There was an oversight on one of the ground wires. Once that was hooked up she fired right up. The wiring and vacuum systems are still a mess but at least it runs.
