    Porting Advise?

What do people use as a reference to getting a nice port job done? what do they go by. Any tricks and tips? anything i wanna avoid? How bout the bumps that are on the exhaust should i remove? is their any certain measurement meant that i don't want to excessed? What is the limit i wanna stay IN?

    Any help would be great?

I supposed if I commented on this I'd be considered biased.

Well, if you have the specialty cutting tools required, the best way is to start with a junk head. Go mellow on the first port and get more aggressive as you go. You should cut thru/ruin at least a couple heads before you start on a head that will end up on your car. It's a long process, and I'm not saying dont try it, but I think I probably made LESS power with my first couple heads

Best to pay somebody who have done it before to do the porting.

    Check out this article:

    MM Artice Part 1

    Part 2

    Part 3

Yes it's not about our 4cyl heads, but about mopar big block heads. However the articles go thru the basics of head porting and you can get an idea of what they're doing and how much of that you could do yourself and transfer over to your style of head. Check out the pics and charts, they give you an idea of the kinds of things you can do. Pick up a head from the junkyard for a couple dollars and start practicing some of these techniques.
