TIII, no balance shafts, 2.2 oil pan-the one with the sump in the center.
My commonblock TII disptick is a different length than the TIII, and the tubes won't come close to interchanging. Anyone have any bright ideas?

Stock oil pan?
If so, any 2.2 or 2.5 with BS's will work. When I did my swap, I used my 2.5 dipstick and just used the thermostat mount bracket and bolted it to the intake.

No Balance Shafts. The oil pan is off a base model Shadow with a 2.2; so it's not the stock one for an R/T or a 2.5.

Ideal oil level would still be the same I would think, I'd still use the TIII setup.

Ray I can't think of a stock dipstick that would work for that situation.
Here's a thought - install the TIII tube (because it clears the intake). Then fill the engine with 3.5 quarts, put the TIII dipstick in and see where it's at (should be around the "add 1qt" mark). If the stock increments aren't correct use a scribe and put a line on the backside of the dipstick at the add mark you just established. Then add another quart to the engine and mark your full line on the dipstick. This is without starting the engine of course and the volumes listed above are w/o fiilter. You could also go 3.25 and 4.25 to reduce the risk of overfilling it, but that's up to you.

Common block 2.2 TBI = no balance shafts
89 Common block 2.2 TII = no blance shafts
90-93 Common block 2.2 TIV and TIII = balance shafts
Ray is running no BS and a 2.2 TBI car pan and pickup, that's all good, less risk of oil starvation this way then a BS pan and pickup without any baffles. His issue is that the dipstick tube from the 8V engine the pan came from won't clear his 16V head/intake.

That's a pretty good idea, Dave. I'm close enough to getting it primed I'll make my own marks once it's full of oil and primed.
I was tired of seeing the oil pressure gauge go low when on the interstate on ramps with the Omni, and didn't want to risk the same thing happening with the R/T. Omni is a 2.5 without balance shafts, no baffled pan.
