    Stock muffler swap

hey guys, I have a 86 ny that has the stock muffler on it. I have a 89 tona T2 dual exit muffler and was wondering if swapping the tona muffler to the NY would help the performance any. Im wanting to keep the exhaust quiet, and I already have the muffler so it wont cost me anything other then my time.

    thanks

There both restrictive mufflers so I doubt you'll notice any gain. There is no such thing as a quiet, performance muffler, well not yet anyway,

I've been eyeing my mom's 3.0 V6 acclaim muffler. Need to get under there and measure but the pipe looks like a true 2.5" going in and it looks shorter and a bigger pipe coming out than my 87 New yorker. Might be a nice sleeper upgrade. I'll be happy with 13's out of it. only another 3 tenths or so to go

nope, still tiny 1 7/8" pipe on the acclaim unless it's not a stock muffler.

Hum 3.0s all have 2.25 (early) or 2.5 (later) not sure when it changed, 90 sounds right.
