    Boost issues.

    Alrighty.

89 LeBaron GTS, Turbo II 5 speed a555. 2.5" mandrel bent full exhaust, k&n drop in filter, MBC more or less set to 12psi.

Anyway, so In 1st gear I get the full 12psi.

Second, third, and fourth gear, shifting at almost redline, I get 6psi. Occasionally It will spike to 7, 8, 9, 10, but not often.

    I don't understand this!

The car should be so quick, it takes off like a raped ape in 1st gear but as soon as 2nd hits, Zzzzzzzz.

Fiiiiiiine I'll buy a dawes 2 stage this weekend.

No, I'm not sure it's good but I don't see how it could be bad.

Why kind of MBC are you using? How do you have it plumbed?

    Re: Boost issues.

Thats the problem with boost controllers. Or maybe the vac lines or something else but I know that in different gears I'll get a different boost by a bit and when I'm in a higher gear and at the right rpm for max boost and floor it it will spike to cutout but only give me a steady 10.

Well we've traced everything and it all works, so it leaves your homemade MBC as the fault due to process of elimination,

He made one and he has it installed properly.

It sounds like it is not venting properly, and the wastegate is hanging open.

Well if he hooks it up to vacuum, he gets a rock solid 6 psi, hence the guess at his homemade MBC is bad.

    Re: Boost issues.

Yeah, it's a homemade MBC. I believe I found an air leak in it. I fixed it and adjusted it.

    I have it set so I get 17psi in 1st gear, 2nd I get up to 15, 3rd 10psi with spikes to 15.

So, not bad. I can live with that. It can still break free the tires in 2nd gear from a roll. Probably a high 14 sec car?
