    Delta Cams

Who here has had their cams reground by delta cams?

He told me he gave me the same grind that he has giv'n everyone else but what worries and annoyed me was the fact he said the cams may need shims (they come with the cams)...has anyone else needed to run shims?

On the plus side, the service was GREAT! sooo fast and the pricing isnt half bad...i got a free t-shirt to boot

    Re: Delta Cams

I used delta cams a few years ago for my cams. They did a good job, did it quickly, and had a decent price. I dont rememeber hearing anything about shims though. I think I may have gotten screwed though, I never got a free t-shirt!

You mean lash caps? If so its not a big deal as long as you can find the right thickness. The 4.6 modular Fords fit our valves if I remember correctly.

    Re: Delta Cams

If it is a stock regrind it should not require lash caps, mine did not.

You did get screwed, I got a t-shirt as well & excellent/fast service too.

Depending on how much the base circle was reduced in the re-grinding process, you might need the shims/lash caps to correct the valve train geometry and keep rockers from falling off. It's not a big deal, just something you have to deal with when running a re-grind or small base circle cam (mostly V-8s).

    Re: Delta Cams

I must have gotten screwed then, because 3 years ago when they did mine they told me that they only did a stock regrind for a TIII.

    Re: Delta Cams

You got a stage 1 grind right? if so, its very mild, put the lifter together without any washers.

Haven't you got it running yet?

    haha no i havent...

BIG ISSUE! i think they reversed the 'grind' of each cam! Im looking at the cams and noticed that some one wrote 'exh' on the side of the intake cam and 'int' on the side of the exhaust cam!
How do i go abouts finding out if they ground the cams properly??!?!

Look at the slot for the retainer, maybe it was a typo on there part?

There are only 2 ways, a cam doctor and installing them, then using a dial indicator and degree wheel to check them.

The stock profiles are the same so I would assume these would be the same also, no?
