    Pumper Wheel paint code?

With my Shadow now back from the body shop I need to get some wheels on it. The 16" pumpers it was wearing looked good before, but next to a new paintjob they really show their age. I've got another set of 16" pumpers I want to refinish and was wondering if anyone new what the correct paint code for them is. Either the factory code or a PPG code would work since that's the paint I plan on using (already have PPG clear).

edit- are you painting them and if not how much do you pay per wheel?

My car came with 15's, but I've had 16's on it for the last 6 or 7 years. I'm pretty sure the paint code is the same for both and all years though. I know that my 15" "dodge" center caps matched the 16" wheels when I swapped them on.

Thanks for the paint code , I probably had it somewhere in one of my books, but haven't had time to dig for it.

I plan on painting them myself, I've got a gun and should be able to do them in a nice PPG base/clear. Haven't priced the paint yet, but I'm guessing a pint of silver will probably around $30 - $40. I aquired a nice set of pumpers on a parts car I picked up recently. Painting them will be the easy part, it's getting them clean, stripped and prepped that I'm not looking forward to.

yea stripping sucks, I jask ask about the price because you can get refinished wheels from transwheel for $165 a peice and they look better than the brand new wheels I get in from chrysler

I can get them refinished locally for around $130ea, and like you said the quality is better than new. Right now I don't have the budget for that, so I'll have to rely on my own cheap manual labor.

to strip em all you need is aircraft paint remover. And yes folks it will not harm the aluminum. brush on, wait for it to bubble and just wipe off. Then finish it with a total prep and prime and paint. Simple stuff. Easy as all get out too.

I've used aircraft stipper before with good results, the rough part on the 16" pumpers is the area between the spokes that has all the ribs on it, getting that all cleaned out doesn't look like any fun.

    Dave

Would they be the same code as the silver GFX on both Daytonas and Shadows in that year or are they slightly different?

I'd shop around and see how much someone in your area would want to powder coat them. Lot more durable than paint, and they blast the part before coating.

I've got the equipment to powder coat them, but I think paint will be easier in this situation. A couple of the wheels have a nice finish already so all they need is to be scuffed up and painted as opposed to stripped down completely.

Billy, The daytonas had two different color ground effects in 89, a darker silver on the Shelby cars and lighter one on the ES models. It may be the same color as the lighter one, but I'm not sure of that. I think the 90 Shadow ground effects are darker than the wheels.

    Re: Pumper Wheel paint code?

Any updates on a paint code for our pumper wheels? I have a 1989 Daytona with 16" pumpers, ready now for paint but don't want to jump the gun and paint them without an official paint code for reference.
