Last Race of the year at PIR

PIR is getting repaved, and is shutting down early this year. A good group of Turbo Mopars showed up on 9/14/07. It was an overcast day with temps in the mid 70's, cooling to around high 50's by midnight.

I got in three runs, and had a good night of fun! New bests in 60' time, 1/8 mile time and speed and 1/4 mile time and speed.

#1 at 8:42 pm after a 45 minute wait. Got lined up against a turbo Volvo 740.
    My R/T =.508 , his was .400.
    My 60' = 2.19 (a new best!) His =2.51
    My 1/8 = 9.50 @ 73.7, his =10.12 @72.3
    My 1/4 =14.84 @ 90.78, his 15.58 @ 89.95
I turned in the grainger 1/4 turn, and sprayed water on my intercooler.

#2 at 9:53 pm (it was crowded!) Paired up with a loud, lowered civic. I wasn't sure what to expect, as there are some pretty quick honduhs, but they all look alike to me....which one was it? He pulled into the water box and did a smokey wheelhopping burnout. I went around the water and did a short dry hop and pulled up to stage. Not to worry, I left him like a panhandler at the bus station!
    My R/T = .463, his .664
    ' 60'= 2.29, his= 2.54
    ' 1/8 = 9.43 @ 75, his = 10.33 @ 69.2
    ' 1/4 = 14.71 @ 91.3 , his = 16.32 @ 80.9
This run produced my best 1/8 and 1/4 mile times and speeds to date.

I let the car cool off for awhile and went to the stands to watch Terry Ryan run his van, and also the amazing little red Sundance! I'll let him post his own times.

I got back into line and heard the

announcer say someone had puked tranny fluid all over the track. It took awhile to clean up....

At 11:49 pm I got my last run. Paired up with a WRX scoobie. I didn't expect to win.
    My R/T =.230, his =.139
    ' 60' = 2.35, his = 1.98
    ' 1/8 = 9.52 @ 75.11 , his =9.17 @ 73.7
    ' 1/4 = 14.78 @ 91.87, his = 14.39 @ 94.28
He had me by 2 cars or so, but at the top of 2nd gear I gained some back on him. I was suprised to see my 1/8 mph was faster than his. I think I'd give him a real hard run from a 20 mph roll.

So, all in all a nice way to end the season. I drove the car home, and all seem OK.

dont forget to change your sig now.

congrats on the times. notice between 1st and 2nd runs you lost a tenth on the 60' and gained more than a tenth on the et. if you had 60' the same 2.19 you might looking at mid 14s.

Thanks! You make good points. As the night went on and the temperature dropped a bit, the traction went away a bit.
My tires are 195/70/14's, Firestone 'Indy 500', and I can't launch at full throttle or I'll really go up in smoke. All I want for Christmas this year is a set of BFG Drag radials! A 2.0 60' would likely get me down to 14.2 or 14.3.
