Got lots of questions on blocks! Help

Okay my block for the van is JUNK! Im stuck with STD size (2.5) Wiseco pistons so I can't bore it out, because the pistons then wont fit.

Which means I need a low milage block that just needs honed or something. So Im wondering if I can just add sleeves to it??

If not can I use a 2.2 and slap all my 2.5 parts into it? I know the only difference is in the stroke, but I think the discrepancy would be in the crank, would that bolt up?

If I can't do any of these I think I'm about screwed. I need a block like now, it needs to be running in 2 months and this is just a huge set-back for me.

Thanks for any further help, I just need some advice here on what to do.

    -Bryan

You can have it sleaved for standard size pistons, but in the long run, I think it's be best to find another block. My 143k 2.5 in my old Shadow just needed surface honed when I re-built it. With that being said, you should be able to find a block pretty easily. As far as a 2.2 block, you can use a 2.2CB , they are basically the same. The only difference in a 2.2 and a 2.5 are the crank and pistons.

You could also sell the pistons and buy .020 oversized ones. Just a thought.

Okay well my bud Kris has a 2.2 bare block, should I pick that up?

Ken, that's what I thought too, so after my block was honed they must've done something too severe and made too much clearance.

You can't sleeve cylinders next to each other. If your buddy has a bare block, definately check it out. Make sure he has the main caps.

I don't know about the year, all I know is it's a TII block.

So I'm guessing I'm moving on this block then. All my 2.5 internals will bolt right in, no fab, no probs, nothing??

    Just want to make sure.

So long as it's a common block, then yes, everything will bolt right in. If it's an 88' and older TII/TI 2.2 block, then your 2.5 pieces won't work.

You will not need a casting #. If it has a fuel pump block off plate, it is an early block. If that area is a solid casting, it is a common block. The plate will be down low next to the water pump if it is there.

Another way to check, too, there is an actual date stamped on the back of the block I believe in the lower left hand corner....

    * Bryan, If you get the block make sure you know if it had balance shafts or not. Because if it did you will need to plug the balance shaft hole..or youll have no oil pressure
