I have 89 VNT CSX number 209... and the front nose piece is turning a purplish color lol and it was pretty dirty when I got it as well.
Did the 89 have a Mobil 1 plaque? If so where was it?
No fun cars any more :(
I have seen two pics. of 89s with the Mobile 1 plaque on the rad support to the left of the Shelby Whittier Engine Code like this:
That is where I plan on putting mine once its complete.
Wow. Who's 16V CSX is that? Thats what I want to do with mine eventually.
That is Mark Fink's. That motor is the original motor that came in the Birthday car that Cindy now owns. Pretty sweet!
Just an update on the progress of my CSX.......I got the bumper and grill installed on the car. Heres a pic:

That looks great. It must feel wonderful to look at that and know that you did it yourself.
Here is a update on my car. I have the dash pulled out to replace the dash harness. I am having trouble finding the correct one. I got one from a 88 turbo Shadow. It is missing one plug for the heater box. I do not know what is for. Then I found a 89 Shadow at the junkyard and pulled it. It was just a regular Shadow and guess what no plug for the message center and lights for the turbo gauge. I get a little quicker pulling the dash now. You need a power screw driver. Tons of phillip head screws. Also anybody know why they don't paint the metal backing? Here are some pictures of my battles.
Looks great Sean! Nice IC in there too hahaha
Steve, probably didn't paint the backing piece because most never see it anyways so why waste the cost of paint on it? lol... ANyhow, what is wrong with your dash harness to begin with? And if you got a good harness out of an 89 Shadow, and your message center area wiring works, why not just splice it into the harness you got from the Shadow? That'd be worst case scenario.
What kind of plug are you talking about on the 88 harness though?
The metal dash support and alot of other bits and pieces you'll never see are left bare metal as a cost savings, it may only save a company $0.02 per piece per car but times that by the number of cars produced per year equals some higher up managers bonus.
Dash harness: you'll need a one from an 89 turbo car
Awesome Greg! Are you doing CSX-VNT GFX on it?
Does anyone have the part number for the black line that connects at the top of the headlight on the backside of adjustment screw and loops downwards to underneath the headlight on another type of screw? It looks like a vacuum line but has threads inside it? I removed the grille from my car today to put into safe keeping and both of those broke when taking the headlights out (the threads came out with the screws).
