Lol!!!!!!!!!!
Question for ya guys (including SL and 87-88 CSX owners looking at this thread too):
Pulled my NOS rear emblem out of the bag today to install it on #144 since the original one's gold lines were really faded. I peeled off the green backing only to find that it was not sticky at all and now can't put it on until I figure out a plan B. Stinks that I paid $250 for the thing a year or so ago and it can't even go right on the car... Double sided tape is out of the question because it has to sit flush to the hatch, and because of this magnets are going to be too thick as well. I was thinking put a nice dab of RTV in the center of the back of it and push it on but I really don't trust that (i.e. driving to SDAC next year it'd be my luck to fly off). Any other suggestions for me?
RTV will not hold it well enough.
What about JB Weld?
There is some really sticky "thin" double sided tape that sound like the best solution.
Great stuff for great cars! Poly engine mounts and bushings at: http://www.polybushings.com
how thick double sided tape do you need?
they have .5mm thick, .75mm, 1.1mm ........
Skinniest pOssible. I didn't Plan on going with etc neway too risky.
That sucks about the two way tape on the emblem, i would definately go with some replacement two way tape versus the RTV. Scrape the old stuff off the back of the emblem with a razor first. I also just put a NOS rear emblem on my car before SDAC this year that i got from the previous owner at the time i bought the car. Fortunately it was still fairly sticky.
But speaking of problems with NOS parts, a couple years ago i bought some NOS Formula GP rear shocks for the car from the guy out at Shelby Autos (Steve?). They looked great when i got them. Put them on the car the day before the Great Lakes fall color tour. By the time i drove 30miles to the meeting location, all four bushings had cracked to pieces and fallen out. I guess they had hardened over the 20 years of sitting on a shelf... I let the guy know and he was surprised as he had sold a bunch of them without issues. Anyways after a noisy ride home i called Johnny at Polybushings who was helpful in sending me some new replacement bushings for about $15. They've be holding ever since.

Great to hear you got that problem fixed! I've seen those on ebay a lot over the years and never pulled the trigger. I may get a spare set to have but we'll see.
I will get scraping today then and source out the double sided tape. Is there an extra strength form of it since this emblem is quite heavy?
sounds like you'll need the 1.1mm tape.

Looks good Billy! Too bad you're gonna crush it...
Louvers are cool. Looks good.
That looks great. Nice work.
Is this anybody fromhere? Just stumbled upon it while searching Google.
*Notice the car above's unique front air dam.
Ding ding ding! You got it Fox. I told Billy I wasn't sure if someone would recognize if it was a Razzi one or not. I really like the looks of it. There's a CSX for sale on TD right now, #361, that looks to have a Razzi rear with the rest of the gfx stock. Looks pretty good too. Does anyone know who's CSX is shown a couple posts above though? Cali guys?
Any 89 owners have a list of all magazine articles pertaining to our cars? I have these four (using shelby-dodge.com's as examples):
