I just picked up a set of Falken 225-50/15's at Firestone, so far so good and realitively inexpensive.

Did the cars with the 225 tires have anything special to accommodate the wider tires or were there just wider tires installed?

The wide tire cars had a special rack with modified internal stops to limit the steering.

Only 2 options; Wide tire and Recaro seat. Otherwise all should be the same.

My CSX had factory power windows and power door locks added to it, along with a Viper alarm system.

If your screen name is your car number (89 CSX #10), it was a standard seat, non-wide tired car. Originally shipped to Denver, CO.

It is #10. Thanks for clearing it up for me. I still know the original owner of the car and he could not remember if it came with big tires or not. Is there someplace to go that has a breakdown of that stuff? Hoping to have it back on the road sometime in June.

I don't believe the information is published anywhere online. Years ago someone made some copies of the invoice logs for each of the years (86 GLHS, 87 GLHS, 87 Lancer, 87-89 CSX and 89 Dakota) and was selling paper copies of them online. I was lucky enough to purchase of copy of all the years before they stopped making them.

Re: The Shelby CSX-VNT Owner's Thread

Is the upper radiator hose specific to the 89 CSX or shelby cars? The parts store hoses are the normal two bend hoses not the 3 bend one. The two bend one will work but I want to find the correct 3 bend one. I went to the dealership and they said they could order one but from what I'm finding the dealer just has the standard 2 bend hose. Does this sound correct. They weren't going to order the hose until tomorrow since I got there after their order time so I want to find out if I should just cancel the order and get one from Omni-Potent. Their reproduction for the GLHS looks correct.

Benji - not sure exactly what your description of 2 bend/3 bend means, but here's a couple pics of a 21K mile 89 CSX with the original upper rad hose:

The replacement hose only has 2 30-45 degree bends at each connection point

Re: The Shelby CSX-VNT Owner's Thread

How about #205? I'm guessing a non recaro non wide tire car unless someone changed the rack because the lower engine shields are worn through in spots from the tire. With that in mind I'm going to steer away from the 225 tires. So my question is how many of you are running 205's vs the 195's that came stock? Also has anyone had better luck with one brand if tire over another? It seems that the last two sets of "Performance Tires" I bought got hard and cracked after a few years and a few thousand miles. The car was stored indoors most of the time so the tires were exposed to the sun very little. It just isn't worth the cost to buy 500 dollars worth of tires and have them go to crap well before they are worn. Also it seems that the 195 tires are around 20 cheaper than the 205's. If I autocross the car I have separate rims and tires to go on the car. For drag racing I have slicks so these are for street use only. I was looking at the Falken 912's as a decent budget performance tire. Tires plus is running a buy 3 get 1 free deal which seams like a decent price. What do you think?

I've run 205/60r15s on Shadows for years with no problems at all.
