    Spirit RT exhaust questions

Okay, I am working a trade for a 1991 Spirit RT. The guy has said that the muffler is junk, and I'm thinking about replacing the entire exhaust. Will the turbo accept a 3" downpipe, or just a 2.5"? I am considering just a 2.5" because I am not going to mod this car, and want to keep it near stock, but a little better.

    Thanks~~Heath

Yes, it will take a 3 inch DP. I really liked the RT turbo elbow, nice setup, too bad it will only fit THAT turbo,

    Re: Spirit RT exhaust questions

ive been toying with an idea to overcome that problem...

    ive come across this:

and have thought about finding someone who can weld ast in my area to bind a 5 bolt turbonetics with internal flapper so the output of that matches the stock 3 bolt 16v R/T elbow...

    Nice find,

Didn't the turbo 2.3's have a similiar setup to your pic?

I forgot what the T3 turbo outlet looked like. I suppose I need a specific pipe to fit the T3 outlet?

Not sure what you mean, it has an elbow unique to the TIII turbo but a standard turbo dodge DP bolts up. The bonus is that it will accept a 3 inch DP easily,

My R/T has the 3" DP bolted on the stock turbo and it works good!

    Re: Spirit RT exhaust questions

Okay, I just wasn't sure. I have never had my hands on a T3 before. So, I'll probably do a full 3" exhaust, and try to keep everything else stock.

i dont know about the 2.3's. I have been looking for one of those int wg's with the ball for a while, and i found one on ebay, and missed it. i am stuck i want to upgrade to my .63 but i dont know if i should stay internal or go external... i'm contemplating going external.... i heard from multiple sources that if your going to run high boost, external is where its at.
