You might be able to go more, but 85 is about most I have heard people going.

85 ft/lbs and never blown one unless I caused it, running 30 psi or more. Some of the higher boost guys go 100 or more. Remember, no torque then turn the nut 90 deg's, just tighten to spec.

i always do 95, be careful though, you can easily shear the studs if you don't lube them

Moly lube on both ends and on the washer and I torque to 80 ft lbs.

Spec sheet says 70 lbs with moly lube or 85 lbs with 30w motor oil.

Moly lube works best in my opinion giving a more consistant torque.

I swear, I had it in front of me as I wrote it.

I just finished torquing my head a few days ago.

BYW, Ken, she purrs like a kitten and goes like stink!

Still need to break it in some more, only have 75 miles on it but I'm breaking it in on the hard side.

Once it's broken in and I change the oil to add synthetic, I'm off to the dyno to make final adjustements.
Pat's putting his on the dyno as well.

Don't run synthetic for 3000 miles. I talked to an Amsoil rep and he confirmed what I thought, the rings are still seating for awhile after. You run the risk of glazing them,

I don't know where you heard that but 1/2 turn after 95 lbs would either strip the bolt or crack the head.

In any case that is way too much.

    Re: head studs (torque)

i'm cheap and impatient so i use 30 weight. i torque it to 55, then 75, then 85, then 85, then 95, and check a few times, then i start the car, let it get to op temps, and let her sit over night, and retorque to 95, and there will be some difference after it's heat cycled.

    Re: head studs (torque)

Never retorqued studs and never will, check them on my motor after it dropped a valve, all the same torque and it had some serious time and boost on it. Personally, its a waste of time.

    Re: head studs (torque)

Do you apply Moly Lube to the entire stud, nut, and both ends of the washer?
