    Door/Window rubber replacement on a G Body?

    Hey all,

Ok, how in the heck do you replace the rubber replacement on the doors?

I am specifically talking about the long rubber piece that sits against the glass (on the outside), and (presumably) keeps water from getting inside the door when it rains. There's philips screws holding it in place on the inside of the door, but if you roll down the window, there are 3 screws that the glass is still covering!

PLEASE tell me you don't have to remove the glass to remove/replace this piece?

On a P-body you have to remove the glass to get the beltline weatherstripping you describe off, so I wouldn't be suprised if the same is required on a Daytona.

(Ugh) Do I even want to know what a PITA that is? I swapped out the window tracks in the past (well, meaning I replaced the white track and the window motors), but never removed the glass. Is it a b_tch?

+1. Remove the three nuts holding the glass to the assembly. Now, the trick is to do this where you can provide enough clearance to slip the studs past the glass. About 1/4 from the bottom is the best spot to do it, but a little push will be needed. Just don't over do it and break the glass.

I had to do it a bunch of times when retrofitting my Daytona. It's not that hard once you know the right spot to slip the two past each other. You DON'T have to remove the glass. Just let it drop to the bottom of the door.

What Russ means to say is just gently rest the glass against the bottom of the door.

Thanks to Russ and Dave!! I know exactly what Russ is referring to, I was "hoping" I could do something like that!! Phew!

I will be replacing the window track and motor on the new Laser soon, and wanted to do the rubber at the same time. Thanks for the advice!!!

did you find a source for new rubber? or are you just using good used ones? I thought that they were NS1 from the dealership.
