    TC Rad/IC Q

Just a quick question...is the radiator/intercooler combo in the T2 TC's the same as all the T2 rad/ic's found in all the other cars? Or is it different? My buddy needs this set for a car he got in the shop. If anyone has a set for sale let me know. Thanks.

The TII rads are the same but the L body has a different neck setup due to the lower hood line. You can make a Daytona one fit, theres some threads floating around.

I have a recored Non L body rad, $225 plus shipping.

Intercooler is different. Mounting is different. Radiator may be the same as a LeBaron but I wouldn't count on it.

For a car that looks so much like a LeBaron its amazing how little of the parts are the same.

All the stock IC's are similar, but they are not the same. The outlets and mounting setup changes for different models/years. I haven't looked close at a TC, but I wouldn't be suprised if they are different from a Daytona setup. Off the top of my head there are at least 6 different factory intercoolers, 7 if the TC one is different.

From the 1989 Chrysler Parts Catalog:

    4266978 Daytona LeBaron Lancer
    4401021 Masi TC 8v
    4425175 Masi TC 16v

TC's are really strange animals. At times it seems like the Italians changed things just because they could.

I knew TIII's and VNT's were different and the S60 one also but thought all the others were the same. Hmmmm, lol!

L bodies have their own intercooler just like P bodies have their own.

Looks like the TC holds the record for using two different ones depending on the engine.

    Lets make a list:

    1) L body. First used in 1986.
    2) G body. First used in 1987. Then H body in 1988.
    3) P body. First used in 1987.
    4) Q body. First used in 1989.
    5) Q body 16v. First used in 1989.
    6) AA body. First used in 1991.
    7) L body super 60.
    8)

    What am I leaving out?

You've pretty much got it right Steve, but I wasn't thinking of the S-60 intercooler.

Here are all the intercooler/radiator combinations I can think of. I'm not sure of what's different between the 8V and 16V TC's, but you are correct that they are listed as seperate part numbers.

    1) GLHS 86 and 87, smaller radiator with coolant hose fitting, angled outlet on intercooler.
    2) G body (87-89), J Body (89) H body (87-89), most common
    3) CSX (87, 89) shorter than the GJH model and have mounting brackets on the sides
    4) Q body 8 valve (89)
    5) Q body 16 valve (89)
    6) G body, J Body, Q Body (90) plastic tanks and side mounts.
    7) P body (90) shorter than the G_body assy still. Plastic tanks and side mounts.
    8) Spirit R/T, Daytona Iroc R/T (91-93) similar to the 90 vnt assy, but top mounts are moved and provisions added for a/c condensor to piggyback to radiator.

As far as the original poster's question, the 89 TC radiator/IC appears to be unique, but the 1990 is shared with the VNT Daytona and Lebaron.

    J body. First in 1989.
An interesting thing is I was told by many that a P body setup would fit an '89 AA body. Well, I had to make extensions to get it to mount to the top brackets, but it does work...... If he shows up for the meeting next Thursday, it can be seen.

So long the TC is not 16v, for your buddy, he can just use Daytona TII radiator and intercooler. It's close enough to fit, hell, I can't tell what the difference is on the radiator/intercooler on my friend's 8v TC and he lives 5 minutes away from me compare to my TII Daytona.

I have an good TII intercooler for sale, $65 shipped to you if you're in US.
