    Omni 3"

Just got this for the Omni. 3" from TU with a stainless magnaflow muffler and magaflow cat. Hope to have it installed by the end of the week. Just curious if anyone has driven a 16v vs a 8v with 3". The car sounds different anyways, so I am curious too see how much different an 8v sounds. When I pull the motor to swap in the T2/555 I will probably add a 3" swing valve with a 3" down pipe, but for now I will enjoy this.

I have virtually the same 3" exhaust system on my Spirit R/T (16v 2.2) and Omni GLH (8v 2.5). Both cars have the same 3" downpipe/catback kit, no convertor, and the same round Ultraflo muffler. They two cars sound totally different. Some of it is because the difference in displacement (2.2 vs 2.5), but at WOT they are very different. The R/T is actually quite a lot louder than my Omni which surprised me.

Hmm, I would have thought the opposite. I LOVE the sound of my 3" with my dynomax ultra flo on my R/T, I just hope the Omi has a good sound. Considering I haven't driven the R/T in about six months, I really need to hear something good! Ever get your cam issue figured out on your r/t? I just got my stg 1's back from Wallace and I really hope I dont have any problems!

The R/T will be louder due the head flowing more air, so more volume, more noise.

And the SRT is 2.4L vs 2.2L, more displacement so more air volume,

I work at a local car dealer and a mechanic and myself stayed after work one night and put that and the 3" O2 housing on. When I fired it up in the shop it sounded like a Cessna, I just started

    Re: Omni 3"

Well, I got my exhaust installed today. Everything fit pretty good, but not quite perfect. The exhaust shop I used did a really good job and everything fits perfectly now. No rattles or banging against anything.

As for the sound, its not what I expected. Its actually a bit quiter than I was thinking it would be. The one thing I noticed that is really different than my R/T is at idle the note is a lot more "bubbley". The R/T sounds smooth at idle while the Omni sounds like it has a big cam in it or something. I am sure this is due to the 16 valves compared the 8. I think it sound really good though. Just need a down pipe and sv for it now.

    Re: Omni 3"

Still think your exhaust it too quiet?? Ive been running an open DP for a while (mostly track car) but now Ive got my 3" SV and 3" DP in place, so I can actually use my 3" exhaust. Im looking at that magnaflow muffler, but wondering if its going to be too quiet for my tastes.

I like the sound of it the more I drive it. If I were you, I would install it without the muffler. If you like it, then your good, if not, then you can always add a muffler. I think I probably like my cars quiter than most, so take that for whatever it's worth.

    Re: Omni 3"

I think the burbling you noticed could be due to the R/T's having sequential injection and the Omni being batch fire.

ok, well that sounds good then! I was worried it was quite all the time. I can handle a quiet idle, but WOT needs to sound like WOT!
