I agree, I think it will be a blast, great for road trips without the screaming rpm's.

Re: My Van's 2.5 TIII project log

So not much to update, she's still sitting but I have a game plan and will start collecting parts.

Going TIII A568 trans, goiing to have to figure out an LSD without breaking the bank, and get a purple plate clutch or ?
Going to a 2.2, have a decent shortblock I can rering.
Just need to figure out SMEC or TIII SBEC with the cam and crank sensors, no more dizzy.

Won't happen this year but I can start putting parts away so it doesn't hurt so much, plus the track is closed this year anyhow.

Well it will be way more fun 5 speed and its only a play van now. Thought you'd like that, hehehe.

Shelgame said go TIII SBEC so that's what I'll do. I have a SBEC van wiring harness I'll install. Should be fun.

Re: My Van's 2.5 TIII project log

Some of the 523s came with a 3.77 or so final drive ratio. Perhaps an OBX will fit onto that? It would at least be closer to the 568's final drive ratio to get the van off the line without breaking the bank with a Quaiffe.

I have enjoyed the purple plate 6 puck in my R/T. Much smoother engagement than the 4 puck I had prior. It will still chatter a little bit when my feet don't get the pedals done right, but it's held everything wonderfully at the track with slicks. I need a driver mod and slicks that are less than a decade old, but the clutch has laughed at the high 1.8 60's.

Thanks. I have a TIII powertrain out of my 91 R/T I'll be using that. I am keeping on eye on Adam's SRT quaiffe install.

I just bought some used/new SRT custom Wiseco turbo pistons with .866 pins, I am aiming for a 2016 return.

Got a new toy today, hoping this won't take much to modify. The pics don't do this sucker justice, its heavy and thick wall metal.

That's what I thought. I am praying the cylinder spacing is close and that it mounts my turbo in the right spot.

You'll need to mod that harness to use the cam/crank sensors and run the coil packs. Add a couple wires, extend others, swap connectors. Stuff like that...

Essentially, make a TIII van harness.

What's it from? Nissan KA24? If so, the middle cylinder spacing is 2mm too big (98mm), but between 1&2 and 3&4 matches (96mm). Close enough to make it work.

QR25 should also be close enough @ 97mm. Especially if you are going to swap the head flange anyway.

Its not for a KA 24, I tried one of those before, way too much work to make it fit.

Re: My Van's 2.5 TIII project log

Just placed it on a head, the spacing is right and the 2 center bolts almost fit. The angle might be wrong but that can be fixed, so for now, looks like the gamble paid off.

Re: My Van's 2.5 TIII project log

Just bought a Hurst SRT shifter setup, found clutch pedals, console and bracket and going to get my Stage II tri flow cams back, I miss them.

Also, looks like I am getting the GTX35r cartridge setup for free, did some minor bartering, and going to use the .63 housing to help with lower end spool.
