Talking My Van's 2.5 TIII project log

After being messed around for pistons, going with Cindy's Venolia's. Pistons and main bearings are off to the coaters in Auburn, had the rod bearings and turbine housing coated already.
I am just doing some head cleanup and take apart my spare block to deburr, the oil pump hole mod and a general once over.

Will post pics as I go along, I hope to get her running in the next month or so,

Well that came to a screeching halt, the standard bore block I was going to use is cracked. Going to have to try and find a good used block on Monday, sigh!!!

Yeah, there her left over 2.5 TIII pistons, I would guess around 8:1 but the block will be decked, the head is milled and I am using a thin cometic so I would guess around 8.5:1 which is what I want.
    Yep, still using the Eagles,

I figure it will run low 12's or even 11's if I get it tuned correctly. Going with my built trans and a real TC I got off Russ Jerome.

Over winter, going to go with MicroTech for the engine management, he can dial it in next door on the dyno,

Yeah, not going for any records, just some fun and fuel economy, need to wake up the ricers this year,

Yeah, not going for any records, just some fun and fuel economy, need to wake up the ricers this year, If as an added bonus, it goes fast, it will do it with full weight and A/C,

Simon, let me know if you need a motor, I got a FULL 2.5 T1 in my garage I'm looking to get rid of. I'm trying to clear out all my 8v stuff as well.

    Will, you have a PM.

Yeah, I've been excited about a 16 valve minivan for years,

One of my parts vans is being cut apart right now, I need a removable bench seat in my full size Chevy van for the little one, so I figured use the minivan's floor setup and bench seat, then I can take it out when I don't need it. Holy crap, been at it for a few hours and still trying to remove the floor mounts. I thought the whole job would take me 4 hours, wrong!!!!!

Re: The Van is finally getting its engine thread!!!

Well the block is at the machine shop, pistons are here. Bought some red adjustable cam gears, traded some Eagle rods and money and a few other nicknacks from Cindy. Getting a Cometic, exhaust flex pipe and got my cams, rocker arms, shafts cryoed and treated from TU.

Heres some pics to start if you haven't seen my other threads.

Coated pistons, bearings and turbine housing from www.performancecoatings.com

I figured what the hell, it was cheap. Extra piece of mind. When I get the external wastegate setup and the DP modded if needed, going to get it coated with the Jethot coating,

It won't wear down the crank journals will it? I know that ceramic is super hard and strong whereas the bearings are designed to wear not the block and crank. This may be a new path we should all take if successful... hmmm....

Nope, its super slippery, its so if for some reason you have no oil pressure, the crank wont' get chewed up and the bearings won't get beaten to a pulp. Of course, they won't last without oil, just help it live whereas normally, they would be hammered and gone.
